Symbol Unveils Two New Programs Designed to Test and Validate Third-Party Applications and Peripherals With Symbol Products Prior to Purchase

New Solutions Validation Program and SymbolPLUS Partner Program to Help Ease and Accelerate Complete Enterprise Mobility Solution Deployments

Symbol Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:SBL), The Enterprise Mobility Company™, today announced two programs that will help customers to reduce deployment time and implement an interoperable end-to-end enterprise mobility system: the Solutions Validation Program and the SymbolPLUS Partner Program. Both programs are designed to validate third-party vertical market solutions and technologies with Symbol hardware so customers can eliminate significant cost and hassle in evaluating these solutions. The two programs include:

Solutions Validation Program: enables partners to co-validate their applications and solutions on Symbol hardware, including the MC50 enterprise data assistant and the MC9000 mobile computer. The Solutions Validation Program is offered within the Symbol Solution Center, a recently built testing facility located at Symbol’s Holtsville, N.Y. headquarters.
SymbolPLUS Partner Program: designed to validate third-party peripheral devices such as wireless printers and GPS receivers to help make sure these products operate "out of the box” with Symbol products and solutions.

Validating Enterprise Mobility Applications and Saving Development Costs

The Symbol Solution Center is a testing and development lab that houses a wide range of products, accessories, peripherals and associated technologies that provide a validation environment for enterprise mobility solutions. Symbol PartnerSelect Premier Partners that provide applications and solutions will now be able to work with Symbol engineers, in a lab environment, to validate their software applications and solutions with Symbol products. The Solutions Validation Program enables both software and hardware partners to leverage Symbol’s Mobility Services Platform (MSP) to accelerate deployments of their solutions and ease the ongoing maintenance and support challenges joint customers face.

Access to the Solution Center and its equipment and staff can save Symbol partners significant development and test costs, and decreases time to market and post-sales support. By using a Symbol validated solution, customers decrease their risk of purchase, and benefit from an application solution proven to work with Symbol products.

In addition to eBusiness Solution Pros, Inc., Symbol PartnerSelect members, including Computers by Design and InfoWave have validated their respective solutions through Symbol’s Solutions Validation Program.

SymbolPLUS: Offering Enterprise Mobility Solutions

Additionally, Symbol unveiled its SymbolPLUS Partner Program, designed to promote relationships between hardware solution partners to provide integrated product solutions for customers around the world. SymbolPLUS extends Symbol’s reach into market applications beyond the Company’s core product offerings by validating third-party peripheral devices, such as printers and global positioning systems (GPS) modules, to work with Symbol products, including mobile computers and scanners.

The SymbolPLUS Partner Program creates a mutually beneficial relationship between Symbol and third-party peripheral vendors to provide enterprise mobility solutions for customers. The program will enable Symbol customers to purchase peripherals that have been tested for quality, reliability, service and system interoperability with Symbol mobile computers and scanners.

SymbolPLUS is a global initiative for Symbol scanning and mobile computing products, and an integral part of an enterprise mobility strategy to make the elements of an enterprise solution work together to achieve customers’ business goals.
