The Motorola Messenger Modem (M3) is a revolutionary product that allows you to reduce costs by using your cell phone to access a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) network using voice-enabled instant messenger products such as Skype™.

M3 software can be customized for embedded applications, too.



Overview
Here’s how the M3 works:
Call your home-based computer from your cell phone. The Motorola Messenger Modem will answer and activate the instant messenger software installed on your computer (Skype™, for example). You will be prompted to enter the code for your recipient that is preprogrammed as a “buddy” in your instant messenger software. The Motorola Messenger Modem will connect to your buddy through a broadband Internet connection on your computer. You’ll enjoy a high-quality, real-time voice conversation that can span the globe for the cost of a local call. This technology works in reverse as well. If a “buddy” on your instant messenger contacts your computer, the Motorola Messenger Modem will dial out to your mobile phone. You answer the call and have a normal conversation!

The M3 also features a built-in telephone answering machine. Now your PC can be used as an answering machine, as well.
