Technical Certification

Overview

Ensure the technical skills of your workforce by pursuing ASTRO®25 IV&D Professional Certification

State-of-the-art, cost effective training and certification

ASTRO 25 Professional Certification on Motorola Solutions ASTRO 25 technology is a combination of standardization and verification that reduces operational expenses (OPEX) by ensuring the work is done right the first time. Comprehensive, job-specific curricula, buttressed by validated knowledge and skill assessments provide you with a high level of assurance that your technicians are experts in specific areas of ASTRO 25 technology.

ASTRO 25 Professional Certification Process

Certification is a process involving training, knowledge assessment, and skill assessment. The ASTRO 25 Professional Certification in ASTRO 25 technology consists of three major components.

Component 1: Prerequisite Knowledge
Candidates for these professional certifications include: Motorola Solutions Technicians and Service Providers only. In order to ensure that the certification candidates have the specific prerequisite core knowledge that they will need, prerequisite courses are required for each of the available ASTRO 25 IV&D Certification programs. These courses are designed to ensure that the students have a clear and detailed understanding of Trunked Radio Systems, Wide Area Trunked Radio Systems and both basic and advanced networking concepts as they are used within Motorola Solutions Communication Systems. It is required that certification candidates attend these courses. This will ensure a smooth transition into any ASTRO 25 certification program.

Component 2: Knowledge Transfer and Written Knowledge Assessment

After attending specific courses tied to the requested certification, students are assessed on their core knowledge of specific topics and concepts related to the Motorola Solutions ASTRO 25 IV&D System component in which they are certifying. The written assessment can be conducted at the conclusion of the appropriate course or can be completed at a later time using an ETA® International certified proctor virtually anywhere in the country. The certifying agency is ETA International. Students must register for a testing slot via the ETA website at www.eta-i.org/motorola_certifications.html.

Component 3: Assessment of Task Specific Skills and Troubleshooting Skills

The third component to the ASTRO 25 IV&D Certification will focus on hands-on demonstrations of task-specific skills. Assessments are delivered through a combination of proctored skill demonstration which includes an ability to follow appropriate procedures and an ability to resolve system issues.

The HANDS ON SKILL ASSESSMENTS (Practical Exams) are ONLY conducted at the Motorola Solutions Training Facility located in Schaumburg, IL. This ensures a stable ASTRO IV&D system environment and the availability of a Certified ASTRO 25 IV&D instructor/proctor. Once core knowledge and skills have been demonstrated through successfully completing both the written knowledge assessment and the hands-on competency, the certification candidate will have achieved ETA International Certification in the ASTRO 25 IV&D system component.

I’m Interested! What should I do next?

Step 1:
Determine what Certification Program best meets your organization’s needs.

Step 2: Search and register for Core Certification course and required prerequisites. Register for this and other classes at: https://learning.motorolasolutions.com/ Proceed to Step 3 for certification registration.

Step 3: Visit www.eta-i.org/motorola_certifications.html to schedule time slots for completion of both the Written Assessment and Hands-on (Practical Exam). (The Certification Candidate has the option to complete the Written Assessment directly after completing the course or anywhere ETA® International is able to proctor the exam. The Hands-on (Practical Exam) must be completed at the Motorola’s Galvin Center located in Schaumburg, IL). Please keep in mind the availability of “Open Testing” slots. Open testing slots are useful when Hands-on (Practical Exam) testing slots are not available directly after the core certification course. Plan ahead when registering for any testing slot and when making travel arrangements.

If at all possible, please attempt to schedule all testing after the completion of the Core Certification course. Scheduling and planning well in advance will help in reducing extra travel costs. Written exam slots are always scheduled at the conclusion of the Core Certification course. However, Hands-on (Practical Exam) slots ARE NOT always available after the Core Certification course. Therefore, at times it may be necessary to schedule the Hands-on Exam component of the certification at a later date. Please keep this in mind when planning. Be the first to sign up for those slots!

Step 4: After receiving passing scores on both the Written Assessment and the Hands-on (Practical Exam), the candidate will receive the appropriate Certification credentials from ETA® International.

Please Note: Completion of your associate CET (CETa) is required to qualify for these Motorola Professional Certifications. Some of these Certifications may be used in the ETA® CET Journeyman level path.
