The multi-device remote control can control three different devices and replace three remote controls. When designing the IP set-top system, operators can use the IR protocol to map any remote control key to trigger the desired set-top functionality.
At home, consumers can programme the remote control to different devices. A range of TV sets and auxiliary devices have pre-defined IR codes that can be entered to instantly map all keys of the remote control, or it can be manually programmed through IR scan. The remote control also has learning capabilities allowing buttons to be taught IR-signals from any IR-device.
