Motorola offers standards-based DOCSIS-based solutions and has significantly contributed to the development of these standards to support the delivery of Ultra-Broadband services that leverage DOCSIS 3.0 channel bonding. The BSR 64000 CMTS/edge router supports channel bonding and allows cable operators to quickly take advantage of DOCSIS 3.0 capabilities, and cable operators can deploy Motorola SURFboard cable modems and digital voice modems that allow them to deliver 145 Mbps to a single SURFboard DOCSIS cable modem and over 200 Mbps to a single SURFboard EuroDOCSIS cable modem.

To gain a competitive edge, cable operators can bond up to four physical channels to offer Ultra-Broadband services today. From the headend to the home or business, Motorola offers end-to-end solutions. By deploying the BSR 64000 in the headend or distribution hub and SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems at the locations of residential or commercial subscribers, operators can deploy channel bonding solutions today to deliver Ultra-Broadband services.

BSR 64000 2:8 CMTS Modules, which are available in DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS models, support downstream channel bonding today. That means that all existing BSR 64000 customers with 2:8 CMTS Modules will be able to leverage standards-based channel bonding just by installing a new software release and deploying DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems. No extra BSR 64000 hardware is required to enable additional revenue-generating services, and cable operators can deploy SB6101 or SB6101E cable modems today to benefit from channel bonding immediately.The Motorola BSR 64000 Decoupled Downstream TX32 Module provides significantly increased downstream capacity and drastically reduces per subscriber and channel costs for supporting the economical delivery of Ultra-Broadband services. It is an evolutionary product that provides major flexibility for operators so they can cost-effectively scale downstream bandwidth to deliver Ultra-Broadband services.

With the TX32, cable operators can deliver increased bandwidth for DOCSIS 3.0 as well as legacy DOCSIS 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 cable modems.Now that channel bonding specifications are finalized as an important element of DOCSIS 3.0, Motorola will include DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS 3.0 channel bonding support in BSR 64000 software releases. All existing BSR 64000 customers with 2:8 CMTS Modules can leverage standards-based channel bonding just by installing the required software release.
