WiMAX Architecture

WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) provides advanced wireless broadband access in fixed, portable, and mobile environments. Motorola’s WiMAX solutions are based on the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Inc.) 802.16e-2005 standard for fixed and mobile applications. Focused on licensed spectrum bands, primarily 2.5GHz, 3.5GHz and 2.3GHz, WiMAX is a wireless alternative to wired broadband access with greater range than Wi-Fi and with the ability to deliver mobility at vehicular speeds. An industry consortium known as the WiMAX Forum® http://www.wimaxforum.org  (Motorola is a board member) manages the certification program for the WiMAX standard and coordinates the ecosystem to support an end-to-end solution.
