PoliceWorks is a fully integrated suite of Windows(R)-based law enforcement application modules that can simplify time-consuming and redundant report-writing tasks. Most common police reports such as traffic citations, accidents, incidents, field interviews, arrests/bookings and towing can be rapidly completed on scene.
Automating field reporting allows officers to remain in-service patrolling the community, while helping to increase the accuracy and completeness of reports. Electronic queries are accessed via radio data networks and can be shared with other PoliceWorks modules eliminating redundant data entry. Information such as person or vehicle data can be entered once and propagated to other modules, flowing from one report to another.
"PoliceWorks allows mobile officers to perform their duties with increased information, enhancing personal and community safety," said Bill Blandford, operations manager for Motorola's RadioWare Software Solutions business.
The modular design of the software enables police departments to create a system based on specific needs and priorities. Information such as streets, names and vehicles can be organized into summary lists for easy retrieval and selection. The seven PoliceWorks modules include:
MDT Module - provides the vital link between the mobile computer in the field and central dispatch, as well as access to local, state and national public safety data bases.
Accident Module - automates the creation of accident/crash reports and allows officer to create to-scale diagrams on scene.
Citation Module - creates and prints uniform traffic citations at the scene.
Incident Module - produces incident reports by electronically collecting information about the offense, subject, property and vehicle.
Field Interview Module - collects information from interviews, enabling detectives to share field interview reports to improve crime solving.
Arrest/Booking Module - automates the collection of information necessary to book an arrest.
Tow Slip Module - automates the towing information process and documents the condition of the vehicle to be towed.
PoliceWorks modules are Windows compliant and run on keyboard, pen-based and touch screen computers. The PoliceWorks solution is designed to interface with computer-aided dispatch and records-management systems. The minimum hardware/operating system requirement is a Windows 3.1, 486 computer with 8MB of RAM. PoliceWorks software application also is designed to work on Motorola's ruggedized FORTE' Wireless CommPad.
Through various federal and state initiatives, certain monetary grants are available to law enforcement agencies to purchase equipment and technology that results in an increase in the number of law enforcement officers deployed in policing a community. PoliceWorks may qualify for this type of funding.
