Ice cream and bootloaders and Motorola – oh my!

October 24, 2011 : BY Motorola

Without a doubt, the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade and bootloaders are two of the hottest topics in our world right now, and we want to make sure you know where to go to get the latest information on each.

Ice Cream Sandwich: Check out the Motorola Android Software Upgrade News page on our Support Forum for the latest information, including products slated for the upgrade and the timing of those upgrades.

Bootloaders: It’s our plan to offer an unlockable/relockable bootloader, currently found on the Motorola XOOM, in future software releases starting later this year, where operator and channel partners will allow it. Going forward, check out MOTODEV, the Motorola developer network, for the latest information.

im glad you guys are doing this. its unfortunate that verizon sucks and locks bootloaders

  • Cameron Smith

Droid 3 is not anywhere on this list.

  • http://twitter.com/AUChief Chief

You guys have the power to put your foot down and tell Verizon “No!” please do so in the future.

  • Anonymous

Without Verizon onboard your statement is meaningless

  • Pierre

Nice to read that, but what about the european Milestone 2 ? Still have an unlockable bootloader, and no Gingerbread ? At least unlock it, some dev will do your work…

  • Travis Curren

No mention of the Sprint Photon anywhere. Please don’t forget the Photon, it’s a great phone!

  • Vmedin2

what i do not understand is how it is possible to have the galaxy nexus coming to verizon, which is a phone with an unlockable bootloader as well as the xoom, but they supposedly will not allow the unlocking of the razr……can you explain that?

  • Tilman Röckl

like the new attitude. lets hope actions follow.
but the elephant in the “room”: what exactly stops you guys from offering an open bootloader for unbranded devices that are no longer upgraded – i.e.: Milestone1, Milestone2, Defy. Your community would love you and you wouldn risk a thing. warrenties are long gone for these devices.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=507228703 Jeremy Hofecker

How about a bootloader unlock for the Bionic? BTW, thanks for announcing the Droid Razr and actually plan on releasing it RIGHT AFTER you hyped up the Bionic for almost a year before you released it.

  • Daniel Maginnis

is it just me or is this post completely pointless?

“interested in ICS? we have whole page devoted to updates, but what you really need to read is one line that says ‘xoom, bionic and razr will get ICS some time.’” the droid3 has same proc as the bionic, but not even a mention? i guess they need to have some reason to make bionic owners feel good about themselves after waiting over a year for it and it’ll be obsolete within a month of release.

“unlocked bootloaders? we want to, if we can, at some time, maybe.”

  • Anonymous

Hopefully, ICS for the Bionic won’t have the reception issues that it has currently. Please hurry and kick out the fix and make sure ICS doesn’t have the same issue. If you don’t mind, could you also make vanilla ICS an option?

  • Jim Lai

How come the only devices that you are going to upgrade to ICS are on Verizon? Where is the support for the Atrix, Atrix 2, and Photon 4G?

  • chago river

when i bought the atrix 4g, i got it becasuse i thought that it would be supported longer because of its superior hardware specs (at the time).
next time i buy a phone i will heavily take into account the dev community behind it. manufacturers cant be relied on, and trust me, it wont be from motorola.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=670246968 Gagan Sharma

    nice work moto

  • Rrmedz

Droid Bionic… Because it make sense, the device is almost perfect to the point that ICS on the device.. is a NO BRAINER.

  • Andrea

will the Xoom be updated to ICS also in EUROPE? we are still waiting for android 3.2 over here.

  • https://profiles.google.com/paw.zubr Pawel

I cannot see Droid3 on the upgrade list for ICS :-(

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Thomas-L-Wolfe/100000451164661 Thomas L. Wolfe

Quit blaming Verizon. Every HTC, LG, and Samsung phone on Verizon have unlocked bootloaders. Man up Motorola…

  • http://twitter.com/Terrordroid Terry Rook

Everyone locks their bootloaders but Verizon wants them encrypted? Because their worried about what unlocked bootloaders would do to network security right? Yeah Right. I can’t believe I’m about to say this but at this point AT&T wireless is more open than Verizon. Sack up Motorola, stand up for us and yourselves *************!

  • MR Blue

I would like to express my disappointment at motorola for not being consistent in the way the software updates are rolled out. Motorola you make excellent smart phones in fact i sold my iphone 3gs and purchased the Atrix 4G a few months ago due to that fact it was the best smartphone available. But there is a reason people buy iphones “THE SOFTWARE FEATURES” apple takes care of its customers and provides extensive software upgrades even for outdated phones. Why are you not upgrading the ATRIX 4G to ICS???? Looks like you wan’t to loose market share to apple. It is a real shame that you are loosing the long term vision and resorting to making a quick buck on phones.

    Just my 2 cents.

    • samsam1441

Ya know all of you guys are freaking out about the Atrix 4G not getting the update… Thats just 3 confirmed devices guys! They havent even released the full list of ICS slated devices! The Atrix 4G could be on it, so don;t freak out until we know if it is or not on the list!

      • ZevHadas

The only devices listed are Verizon. Motorola quit giving AT&T any form of support after the death of RAZRv9. I’m actually looking at a Windoze device since Atrix did not have any of the business support applications that are given to Verizon devices. Windows7 devices support those functions natively.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kellie.dunnecrothers Kellie Dunne Crothers

well this says nothing about the Atrix gettng the Ice cream sandwhich update o_O

  • http://www.facebook.com/kellie.dunnecrothers Kellie Dunne Crothers

Guess its time to drop motorola and buy a real phone….unbelievable. I thought for sure atrix would get ICS. I went with motorola since the Droid came out. Then I lost my mind for a minute and bought a samsung galaxy phone which still had Froyo on it, then I bought the atrix because of the dual core compatablity with ICS . What a complete let down. I think I may return to samsung and buy a nexus s

  • Panicos Gregoriou

What about atrix 4g we need ics too,it is a bitty for such a device to come to an end now after 8 mounths of release.

  • Igor Król

    ICS FOR ATIRX 4G!
Update only to Gingerbread? Thats ridiculous… SE confirmed that all weak Xperia will receive an update to the ICS, why can’t Motorola do this?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=540973057 You Liang Tan

Whats wrong with you Motorola. Where’s ICS for the ATRIX?

  • Blake

Thanks Moto for adding unlocking of the bootloader on the Atrix with the Gingerbread update.

Please add the Atrix to the ICS list. Didn’t Google announce at Google I/O that phones would get the latest updates up to 18 months after release?

  • Vu Trieu

thats pretty disappointing that Motorola is not going to update the Atrix since it was their flasgship phone when it was released. So i guess its the same deal with the atrix 2 which will get ICS in about six months and then dropped…Samsung and HTC are both looking like the better option for support and updates.

  • Sean Come Young

not even a year old and you’re killing the phone… sad day to own a atrix

  • Anonymous

Thanks for checking in about the Motorola XOOM Family Edition. We can confirm that it is one of the devices that will be getting an update to Ice Cream Sandwich. Please visit the Motorola Android Software Upgrade News page (https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades) for the latest information.

  • md.saifur rahman chowdry

motorola !! we need it first place

  • Panicos Gregoriou

We want ICS for ATRIX 4G,we have every right to demand this update.

  • Saggy

Atrix 4G must get ICS. This superphone is just 8-9 months old. As per Google’s support policy every manufacturer is required to support the phone and provide all upgrades within 18 months since the product’s launch. If they don’t upgrade Atrix 4G to ICS then Motorola & Google who now owns Motorola have set a big example that people cannot expect to keep theirAndroid phones updated. People will lose faith and will prefer Apple iOS and Win Phone over Android, including Me.
I hope Motorola/Google gets this message!!!

    • http://twitter.com/bgiorgini Bruno Giorgini

Same for me, I bought two Motorola phones this week, Atrix 4G and Atrix 2. I need them receive the ICS update as soon as possible.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jks.leung Jack Leung

Even LG Optimus 2X (Tegra 2, 512MB ram), after customers’ strongly request, is going to get ICS update….. Where is the point not updating ATRIX ?

Unless MOTO dun care about customers’ brand loyalty, ATRIX would definitely need ICS update.
I am sure it is my last moto phone when even ATRIX can’t get upgrade……
    Disappointed with Anger . /.

    • http://thydewebdesign.co.uk Tom Hyde

ICS should be put on the Atrix as it is only 9 months old. All other devices of the same age will get ICS.

  • Jai

I agree with all the comments I read about ditching Motorola (and Android as well) and discouraging my friends from buying if they cannot support the few months-old Atrix. We need ICS.

  • Ryannzha

PHOTON 4G has the hardware with like a maximum requirement, it NEEDS ICS, and be sure to make the USSD code fixed, guys. I mean come on, motorola and google are both divine-like company, love your customers please, unless you guys want us to ignore your products, which eventually impact your sales, and make you guys suffer for bankruptcy.

  • Sdw79

What about the Electrify? Will that get ICS???

  • Adam

I’m disappointed there is no ICS for Droid 3…. the Droid 3 only came out a couple months ago, therefore should get the 4.0 update. I dislike this.

  • Jim Scheiner

My Atrix is 9 months old and it’s not eligible for ICS by Motorola? I suspect that this is nothing more than a marketing ploy by Motorola to get people to buy the newer Atrix. I for one will not do it. I’ll drop my Atrix as soon as it’s off contract (probably earlier) and not go back to any Motorola. If this is the thinking it will do nothing more than alienate good, existing customers. What a bad way to treat their loyal customers who stood by them.

  • http://twitter.com/AaronSiebold AaronSiebold

Your Android Software Upgrade page lists the Droid X (MB810) at android 2.2, and the 2.3.3 upgrade has been available for it for some time. You guys might want to update that.

  • John_beaudin

Well if the Atrix is not updated to ICS, this will be the last motorola phone I will ever buy.
I am going to switch to Samsung because they always get the updates.
A Versy sad Atrix user.. :( I might sell next year if no updates

    • Mel S

Same here. Do the costumers wrong, they wont come back.

      • Rbastidas

This is gonna be the first and last Motorola phone if no ICS update is released by Motorola

  • Jorb

Xoom family edition is clearly included to get ICS on the Software Update link above.

I do think Moto should be more like Apple and just release the updates. If Apple can release IOS updates without doing special carrier locked builds, then Moto can too.

  • Anonymous

We are working through the plan for ICS upgrades across our portfolio devices and will share more info as it becomes available.

    • ZevHadash

That’s the Samsung response that pushed many of us to Motorola in the first place. Did you not learn from their mistake?

  • Michaeltaylor_76

The Photon was the “best” phone in the store when I bought my phone 4 months ago. I will be appalled and devastated to say the least if my money went to a phone that wont receive a software update.

    • Anonymous

We are working through the plan for ICS upgrades across our portfolio devices and will share more info as it becomes available.

      • Saggy

I hope you provide a timely response coz all the other manufacturers including Sony have made announcements about the upgrade. If not then you will only make your customers mad and make them go to other options.

  • DerekChicago

As a Schaumburg resident who was loyal to Motorola phones for over 10 years, I am extremely disappointed about the Atrix. I would like to speak with anyone from the company who can explain this. Look at the list of devices, the updates are embarrassing. As Motorola supports the local economy and provides jobs to many friends and family, I cannot agree with the rationale to let consumers down. I hope the company rethinks flooding the market with phones without support.

  • Blank Hang

Well..if my DX can not get the ICS updated 1G CPU 512 RAM i think this is ok to Running ICS.then this is will be my last moto phone i will ever buy. so this is it. BTW.why you guys have to locked Bootloader WTF….

  • Blank Hang

Well. If my DX will not get the updated to ICS this will be the last motorola phone i will ever buy .buy the way what’s wrong with the BL? this is it

  • Rlrranaweera

HATE TO SAY THIS BUT YOU HAVE LET ALL YOUR LOYAL ATRIX4G CUSTOMERS DOWN by denying us the ice cream sandwich update..Hope u will reconsider . loyalism is a two way processes you give some you earn some

  • Gd2155

I would love some ICS on my X2. The 2.3.4 update was a huge improvement but some fresh Android would be great.

  • nandan kulkarni

come on guys! what’s taking you so long to decide which phone gets the update! the ATRIX 4G (aka world’s first dual core smartphone) dies without seeing any OS update that actually can optimize it’s hardware?? i’ve been a motorola fan since the first razr came out!! and there are many others like me.. please don’t bail out on us without any meaning guys! fuel the beast that we’ve purchased with ICS and give us some good news.. i still love motorola.. haven’t yet lost hope.. cheers..

  • Mel S

Atrix 4G better get ICS or else Im jumping on Samsung and never going Moto Again. At least they dont lock Bootloader and so easy to install custom ROMS.

Motorola, please do not dissapoint all of us…

  • http://twitter.com/harveyhb harvey

    Dispointed with Moto.

  • Mel S

Im 100% regretful about getting the ATRIX. Really pissed off at myself for being stupid and believing this was going to be continued getting support. ATRIX support is gone.

    F- U

  • Anonymous

Please bring ICS to the Atrix!!!!! The device is amazing and this would just make it even better and also show how you guys support a device that is as powerful as the Atrix!

  • Chris Jensen

I have stayed true to you Motorola, and now with one of your best phones ever, no update? I will be one of many to never buy a Motorola Device if you do not keep your phones updated.

No ICS, No More Moto!!!! Keep your customers by keeping them HAPPY!

  • Skudrunne

Well, Motorola has about 7 days to announce ICS for Atrix or else I am on my way to buy the Samsung Nexus. Hasnt even been 10 months since I bought he Atrix. Goes to show the consumer will give loyalty to the company who GIVES the loyalty. We all know not releasing ICS for atrix is just to generate more revenue. This ones gonna backfire on you Motorola! 7 days and counting.

  • EclairIsAsshole

    Maybe flipout 4.0

  • Bryce Burks

I am irritated with Motorola and many of the individuals writing here! What about the Photon?! I meant he Photon is less than six months old and came out after the Atrix! I want ICS for my Photon! NOW! Why would would a company stop supporting high end phones that just came out?!?! There is an issue here and Motorola needs to adjust!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000122045932 Marius Mühlberger

I expected an improvement of Motorolas update policy after the close connection to Google. But it seem’s that this idea was wrong. With that policy I already can tell: My next smartphone won’t be a Motorola

    • Dulshan Kalpage

Google hasnt completed its takeover yet so quit dragging it into Motorola. See if things are the same after 2012.

  • Disgruntled

It is awful that the Atrix will not get ICS, it needs it now, mind you we had to wait for monthe for Gingerbread, on that level it will take Motorola 2 years to get it out.
I’m like the rest of people, no more Motorola if no ICS.

  • http://www.facebook.com/j3d89 Javier Delgado

Seriosly motorola….i was glad getting an atrix…trusting in the brand..just to get this? NO ICS? whats the point in making your costumers angry? self destruction? or you believe that costumers are blind and retarded enough like to go buy atrix 2…after being dissapointed? come on i dont think moto its that stupid.. dont be arrogant like the fruit logo mark company….

  • ABDULLAH laila

excuse me but i have some problem with my new phone
number one is the voice command every time i open it

finally i want ask you that if i root the device the warranty will cancel or not
i hope you will answer me extremely fast
my phone is motorola droid razr xt910

  • AtrixICS

I’m a very happy user of Motorola Atrix but if the Atrix is not updated to ICS, this will be the last motorola phone I will ever buy as well.

  • d.leigh hunte

Had my first motorola in September 1987 and my last in July 2011 (Atrix). Samsung I am coming over.

  • Tony Allen

Just unlock our bootloaders, and the people that are really worried about ICS will likely find their own way thanks to Cyanogen and others. Just give us this. Please? I love my Bionic hardware, your software just makes me want to club baby seals.

  • http://profiles.google.com/lotyboy Joshua Barkdull

I would also like to add my voice to the crowd of Atrix owners who will bolt if ICS is not made available.

  • http://www.wraithtdk.com Matthew Young

Dude, Samsung? Let me tell you something about Samsung. I bought the Galaxy S Continuum over a year ago. Gingerbread had just come out and it was still on 2.1; but they promised a release to 2.2 in a month or so. They even sold accessories that REQUIRED the update to work properly. Fast forward over a year; and while they’re still selling the phone, there’s been no update, and they refuse to comment.

Samsung is hands-down the WORST when it comes to support and updates for their phone. That company will never get another penny from me.

  • http://www.wraithtdk.com Matthew Young

What about the Atrix 2? It’s only been out for a few months and has the horsepower to run it…

  • h@r$h@n :-)

hey guys cool down .its just the beginning of ICS.. lets see how well it performs. and there will be hundreds of bugs in it as soon as it releases. so let it take time to settle down. atrix will surely get an official update . else BALLS TO MOTOROLA , BALLS TO NVIDIA…:P :P

  • Dulshan Kalpage

To all you people complaining about software updates, just go for a Nexus device. Also we could bear with Moto as Google will be completing its acquisition by the end of 2012. Who knows what could happen. Moto already has some of the best if not THE best hardware, so if Google decides to take Moto software to the next level as well, it would definitely take them to the top.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1315579242 Kevin Lewis

I really like the Bionic, it would be so nice if you could unlock the bootloader.

PS: I do like your products and have been a happy return customer for decades!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000329198507 Dave Demlong

So Moto, how about you even dignify yourself with a response about bootloaders instead of blowing off ALL your customers who SPENT 300-700 dollars for one of YOUR products.

I haven’t owned a Motorola since the flip at the end of the 90s. Want to know why? Innovation.
When my HTC Droid Incredible started acting erratic and it was time to get a new battery, I decided to try out Motorola’s dual-core processor offering. Why? Because you promised UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS!

MONTHS have gone by. WHERE IS MY UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER?

Motorola, you owe me $200, take this damn phone back and get me out of my contract, so I can buy an HTC.

You’ve got to love that WE CONSUMERS brought this company back from the brink of collapse.. and what is Motorola doing? pushing us away.. biting the hand that feeds. So long Motorola.. @Motorola – I’m a faithful Motorola customer, and I’m starting to have second thoughts. Honor what Android stands for, openness, and give us the bootloader unlock tool that you promised “second-half of 2011″.

  • Jmsmeltzer2000

Got moto phone thinking Motorola would keep they’re promise of unlocked bootloaders, now having second thoughts. HTC keeps they’re promises! Keep Android as it was meant to be, OPEN! KEEP YOUR PROMISE, UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADERS PLEASE!

  • Jim

Is it later in 2011 yet? Pretty sure we are past that date and not one single unlocked bootloader has been released. You released a software update for Bionics in December, why wasn’t the bootloader unlocked at that time?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-C-Powell/739663293 David C. Powell

@Motorola – I’m a faithful Motorola customer, and I’m starting to have second thoughts. Honor what Android stands for, openness, and give us the bootloader unlock tool that you promised “second-half of 2011″ You’re shaping my future purchasing decision with your inaction, HTC and Samsung both have unlockable bootloaders in their handsets [I know not all of them] on the Verizon network, your “where operator and channel partners will allow it.” arguement is wearing thin. It is very simple, want to keep me as a customer? Demonstrate that you do and will listen to us, the small but vocal enthusiast crowd. Ignore me / us, and I will move on to HTC or Samsung or whomever else has a handset that is fully mine to do with as I paid for.

  • Tony Allen

You are full of so much $H1T…

Here it is 2012 now and we still don’t have an OEM FASTBOOT UNLOCK for our devices. You gave us incredible hardware this year, and none of us enthusiasts can safely enjoy them without running and screaming through acres of red tape. I want a stock vanilla ROM for my Droid Bionic, but you guys and “Verizon” will never let that happen. You’re keeping all of the necessary source to yourself and not giving us the ability to unlock our bootloaders. This will be the first and last Motorola device I own aside from my fully unlocked, Xoom which is still amazing and relevant.

Why are you being so solemn and stubborn about this. Make it a non-issue and make us consumers happy. I’ll be going back to HTC and Samsung.

  • Anthony Palumbo

so how ’bout those bootloaders… but my good guess is you will have no reponse….gnex is unlockable the htc rezound is unlocked by htc. I am just wondering what the hold up is… if you could why dont you try replying to us..

They need to make the ICS upgrade for the Photon 4G since it is one of the few phones that Sprint has and is Sprint’s flagship phone for not only 4G users but for enterprise users.

  • 国强 张

@Motorola – How about those unlocked bootloaders you promised second half of 2011? @HTC cares, do you?

Sell us the SOFTWARE not more HARDWARE!

  • Michael Woodrum

I will never buy motor again. Three weeks after I buy what I expected to be the one device to have, you release a version with a larger battery. Knowing that was the only real problem with the original. Now you aren’t going to unlock the razr, you are going to release yet another raze. I was at CES, I remember Sanjay saying that they wouldn’t be releasing a stupid amount of phones this year. Well fail, you already have. I am going to get an HTC or Samsung device in the future. They seemto actually do what they say they will.I.

  • http://www.facebook.com/5.second.minute Kit Tihonovich

Woot. GNex owner. And happy as can be with my unlockable bootloader.
Thanks, Motorola. I mean it. If I hadn’t bought the Droid X I wouldn’t have known what an encrypted bootloader meant for my enjoyment of a phone.
    Never again, I said.
    And I meant it.
    HTC, Samsung, whoever…
But never again will I buy from you.

    • http://www.facebook.com/john.scimone John Scimone

Droid X: My current (locked) phone. GNex: Probably my next phone. Have you seen the development community?! It’s CRAZY.

  • Julian Turner

This is not enough for me. I lost $80 when you lied about offering an Android 2.1 upgrade for the Motorola Devour and Dext, even though I didn’t personally own them (fronted money to ordder Sony Ericsson LiveView that requires 2.x; never got update so never got paid). You could unlock the bootloader of every phone you ever make from here on and it would not do me any good if you never update that phone and you never let your willing users do the work, so don’t expect that to be enough to satisfy all potential and past customers.

I worked for years at your Mira Mesa, San Diego offices and I was disgusted at the way you let the carriers boss you around with no consideration for the customers.

  • http://www.facebook.com/WilhelmJ Jeff Wilhelm

Unlock your Motorola Droid Razr Bootloader for customers that supply you with monetary funds that correspond to your profit, wish the option of the unlocked device that they have already purchased. Your answer to this issue correlates to losing many unhappy customers and to never be used again. I as a stock holder of Motorola Mobility and of Motorola Solutions want this change to occur so that software is available to unlock the device.

    To Whom It May Concern,

Motorola, please, we beg of you to hear us out. We bought your devices faithfully, some of us standing in line, some of us saving our hard-earned money for weeks, for months, because we were so excited to get our hands on this shiny new piece of technology, be it the Droid 3, the RAZR, the Droid RAZR, the Bionic, the Atrix 4G… Even the Droid X, Droid 2, Milestone, and other users. We were aching to do the impossible with it – to break records with unparalleled speed, to optimize, to customize. To shun those who didn’t believe in you delivering on your promise to unlock the full potential for your well-constructed devices, Motorola. We’ve been faithfully waiting.

And waiting, and waiting. Until today, when you delivered the announcement of the Motorola RAZR Developer’s Edition. And unfortunately, this is not like the XOOM’s 4G upgrade, where users could send in their already purchased devices – no. This is a completely new device. There is zero compensation or consideration for those of us who already have Motorola-branded phones in our hands.
Motorola…. We Droid RAZR users… We Atrix 4G users… We Droid Bionic users… Even we Droid RAZR MAXX users that got our phones less than a week ago… What about us, Motorola? You gave us your word. It was a tipping decision for a lot of your buyers that purchased the Droid RAZR, to know that we would be a part of history, having the very first Motorola device with an unlockable bootloader. Why did you alienate us? You saw all of our petitions, and this announcement seems a lot like a one-trick pony, something that will start here, not sell well (because we’ve already purchased the exact same phone and aren’t financially able to purchase another), and never happen again. Will there ever be a consumer device that also doubles as a treat for the enthusiasts, like the Transformer Prime? Or any of HTC’s devices? As faithful customers, we’ve been faithfully waiting.

This is like a slap in the face to every buyer of your high-end phones. We very much do appreciate that you’re trying, but this is not the solution you need, or that we need. At least not in its current form. Please put your foot down firmly. If Verizon is causing this, you do have the ability to change it. Nexus devices changed it. HTC changed it.

Honor your core demographic, the Android enthusiasts, and unlock your devices. If not the ones you’ve already released, then all in the future. 2012 is an important year for all of us. Please.

    Sincerely,
One of the over 15,000 people represented by the internet petitions listed below.

Too little too late, when I first bought my Atris 4g I was concerned about the Motoblur problem, but I foolishly bought “the world’s fastest smart phone”. Don’t get me wrong it hasn’t been too bad but I am disgusted at your customer service, we the paying consumer deserve better. Where is our ICS update??? The phones not even a year old most of us still have over a year on our contracts and as far as I see we aren’t getting updates from here on out.

As far as I can see your newer releases have the same problem. And your brand new Motorola Razr still has motoblur and now you can’t even remove your own battery. Good one guys take even more control away from the consumer. At the end of the day your company does not deserve sales, or maybe you just don’t want to sell phones any more. Well I’ll help you with that as much as possible….

I personally will make sure all my friends and family do not buy your products and I will add comments to as many sites as I can warning people about your business practises because lets face it, you as a company just don’t give a F**K.

the truth I was very disappointed with the attitude of Motorola after-sales service as a hardware phone with more than decent for new actualisaciones not going to have only for their mere whim one of the most striking examples is the Motorola Atrix has a hadware more than enough to Ice Cream Sandwich and still are not willing to actualisar one of the best terminals.
like about the Motorola defy is more than demonstrated by the community that works perfectly android 2.3 even 4.0 but you are not willing to actulisar your device and take it instead of another phone with similar features not named equally desir that defy plus practice are exactly the same as the current and defy common and bring him castrated factory and is well known that the 800 mhz are upgradeables quietly up to 1200MHz or even more.
have if left boludear a large market with a terminal envious and do not know to take advantage.
will end as a couple of years with only a small portion of sales and this look instead of hardware as before for bad customer service but what concerns actualisasiones of software and I do not come with it is not possible that this the technical limit because a lie is true that there will be low-end terminals that may do so for that reason but an android GO 2.3 runs at least decent shape with a prosesador to 600 mhz and 256 mb of ram.
also if they say it can not put the interface would be good to see MOTOBLUR to optimize accordingly. that the community does not have to do work that is yours and no one but his own terminal has its success depends entirely on you and not the community.
it is true that Android is free and we are getting much verse with that but the terminals are blocked can not change their software.
PLEASE DO NOT BE THAT BE LOST SALES AND REPUTATION.
says they are a user of a motorola defy thrilled with the terminal and very unhappy with their service actualisacion the terminal.
the terminal up to much more please BATTERIES. that most people do not buy more for how he looks or functionality that gives the time but purchase your warranty service all your attention so that people do this taking into account more often and companies that do not occur CAEN account sooner or later.
a user terminal happy with the dissatisfaction with the service. seriously considering buying another company but better customer service from the face of actualisaciones available for their handsets.
sorry for errors this is translated with google translator.

it is sad really.u should really have unlocked the Boot loader.the fact is people dont even buy second hand moto phones in India because they dont have fait in the company anymore

  • Alex Schick

    Liar!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://twitter.com/Terrordroid Terry Rook

I don’t think motorola realizes just how much the modding community grows everyday, they will be sorry when filing bankruptcy for being stubborn and not compromising, sad too because they make a solid device imo but the bootloader and the lies just killed it for me. Keep lying and pointing fingers and I’ll keep fighting for unlockable bootloaders. I will never give up.

  • Emmanuel Bunggo

please give ICS to Atrix users!!!!!!!!! we deserve it!!!!!

  • Cristian Gómez

My entire life, i’ve loved so much Motorola, I keep faithfull to get a unlockable Bootloader for my Motorola Charm MB502, It’s not the latest o the best, but it’s Great! Fast, a great CPU-GPU-RAM combination, but come on! it could be runnin’ at least Froyo!!! so I ask myself “why should I buy a Xoom, or a newer Motorola device if in just a year there will not be a way to update it!”. So it makes me think that I must star thinking about get another brand! Come on Motorola, You guys are the monsters in the market!!! Stay with users!!! Regards

Locked boot loader should be a OPTION. The more customable a phone is, the more ANDROID USERS want it! We are not Apple Fags! We like CUSTOMIZATION! Just put a damn “Warranty voided if unlocked bootloader” on your damn license agreement! We dont care!
