Motorola Mobility employees are an Appy bunch

July 31, 2012 : BY Motorola

But maybe that’s just because the Motorola Mobility Foundation helps them learn how to build their own mobile apps

For a week, starting July 30, the Motorola Mobility Foundation will be hosting an App Boot Camp “Basic Training Week” where employees can learn how to build, design and test their own mobile apps using the MIT app inventor. Because Motorola has people working all over the world, the hour-long webinars will held at various times so everyone can attend.

The webinars will teach employees how to design, build, and test a unique mobile app in the hopes that they will be inspired to share their new skills with organizations and institutions in their communities.

The Foundation believes that teaching individuals how to create apps will not only empower them to engineer apps for personal or public use, but it will also ignite a trend of innovation among the participants – a trend that they hope will continue to spread as App Boot Camps continue to be held around the world.
So far, 375 employees from around the world have signed up.

Products, Software & Apps

We know there are users out there who have been asking for an unlockable bootloader on their Motorola Mobility device. For quite some time now, we’ve been working closely with our carrier partners to find a way to make that possible — all while keeping the networks secure and protecting other users’ experiences.  We’re excited to announce that Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE, just announced today and coming soon to Sprint’s fast 4G LTE network, will have an unlockable bootloader. We’ll share more details on how to take advantage of this feature closer to availability. And moving forward, we’ll be looking to offer this option on other devices as well.

How To

From weddings to weekend getaways, Motorola smartphones allow you to shoot and share picture-perfect moments. And with Google+, you can share the good times as they happen.

With Google+’s Instant Upload feature, your phone (powered by Android 2.2 or higher) can automatically add photos or videos to an album on your Google+ account. Images are first uploaded to private album that only you can see. You can share them with specific friends or Google+ Circles. You’re in charge of who sees what.

Get started
First, go to the Google Play™ store and install Google+ on your phone. Once installed, sign into your G+ account, then go to Settings. Under “Photos and Videos,” select “On” for Instant Upload. Here, you can set when you want to upload: while charging, using WiFi or whenever (so uploads happen immediately).

Once you’re set up, you’re to share. From G+ on your phone, tablet or computer, choose “Photos.” Select what you want to share, add a note and then choose who sees what. Google+ Circles lets you selectively share last night’s craziness with close friends and avoid embarrassment with the family. Google+ works with non-Motorola Android devices, too – even Apple’s iOS.
