Finally there’s a smartphone offering a class-leading keyboard with a huge screen. The new MOTOROLA PHOTON Q makes it easy to do more and see more. This world phone features a cutting-edge PC-like, 5-row keyboard with LED edge-lit keys, which means working anywhere at any time is always possible. And with SMARTACTIONS™, a fully integrated free app that intelligently automates everyday tasks and extends battery life, MOTOROLA PHOTON Q is super smart.

A big 4.3” ColorBoost™ display offers more vibrant colors than the leading smartphone. Browse the web without enlarging text, look at detail-rich pictures without having to zoom in, and watch a show without straining your eyes.

Looks good except qHD is dissapointing

Why do some specs say 1280×720 res and some say qHD? qHD still requires zooming in. 720p does not. qhD was last year’s phones. Why would you give this premium business class phone a lesser screen, when those of us working in Docs ToGo, doing powerpoints and quite a bit with text in general would be fine with a lesser res screen compared to your slates like the Atrix HD?

And why the anemic battery? Again, this is a business class phone. We use our phones more and rely on them for work. We tend to live with our phones. I go through two 1800mAh batteries on my Epic on a typical busy day. I always have a freshly charged spare. How do I do that here when there is already a smaller battery than was found on last year’s phones, and we can’t even replace it with a fresh on if/when it dies.?

And the sim card is fixed? What’s the point if I’m stuck with Sprint’s expensive orverseas charges. The point of a world phone is to be able to thorw in a local sim of where you’re traveling, and be up and running. Locked into Sprint internationally doesn’t make any sense. So I still need to keep the original Photon because the Q will be unusable overseas.

I was feeling this phone originally, but I don’t get your design rationale at all for the business user. God forbid a slider is truly be a premium phone and not one that comes across as crippled compared to your premium slates.

I agree, people who want a qwerty tend to be a die hard group who would most likely be willing to pay a premium to have top tier specs rather than a a mid-range phone. I could almost forgive the non-user replaceable battery if the phone was very thin, but judging by the specs it is slightly thinner than the epic 4g

Just from being on the forums, people have left the Epic specifically for the specs of the GS3 even though they’d still like a keyboard. And the single biggest complaint for heavy users, power users, whatever you want to call them/us is good battery life. The Maxx addressed that issue on the RAZR. Why would they not learn from that when making the Q?

The Epic was the first and only premium slider to go toe to toe with it’s premium slate counterpart. A galaxy S was a galaxy S with the same hummingbird process & SAMOLED screen. Every phone since has been a compromise somewhere to it’s premium slate whether it’s been Motorola, HTC, and supposedly the coming LG.

World Smart? How? You embedded the SIM and force customers to pay Sprint’s exorbitant overseas roaming rates when we could previously pop in a local sim and go. Bad enough overseas trips are expensive as it is. Now i have to add a $500 phone bill to the mix?

Thanks for allowing me to keep my Epic for two more years when you hopefully get your act together and create a true business class phone. Anemic embedded battery. Expensive embedded SIM, and a qHD screen when your other new premium phone is sporting HD. And this phone isn’t even announced yet, but will still carry a premium price tag with crippled specs and mid grade features. You couldn’t even give it 2gb of RAM.

  • yup

I’ve been eligible for an upgrade for 7 mo now, and ive been sticking with the original epic because of its physical keyboard. i was very excited about the release of the photon q until i learned the very disappointing specs of the phone. one less gig of ram and most importantly a non removable battery and sim. i dont get why they crippled this phone it would have done great with sales. but now looks like they will succeed in saying they released a keyboard phone and the sales were not very good so now its touch screen only for now on. i hate to say it but the galaxy s3 looks like the runner up. this phone was a bad move and i am very disappointing!!!
