The ensuing holidays are so full of memories-to-be. Good, bad, ugly – there’s no limit to the amount of footage that will be captured in photos and videos on smartphones in the coming weeks. With the advanced camera technology built into the DROID RAZR HD by Motorola, taking high quality photos on the go has never been easier. Take vibrantly colored HDR photos, razor-sharp HD 1080p video, panorama, multi-shot, slow-motion, and much more. Check out this page to learn all about your camera. Your pics and vids will be starring at your gatherings, and are sure to be in demand from relatives with inferior cameras.
And then it’s time to share, but there’s that roadblock we have all experienced when trying to send videos or a batch of photos. “File exceeds limit” “File too large to upload”, etc. etc. You tell your friends and family you’ll send them those clips of the dog eating the cake or little Timmy riding his new fire engine for the first time. You’ll upload it to a file-hosting service and send them a url. And then life gets in the way, and the files are never sent. Fast forward to the Google Drive already in your free Gmail account, and keeping your word becomes easy as pie.
Google Drive in Gmail currently allows up to 5 GB of free storage, and upgrading to 25 GB is only $2.50 a month. Once you have captured your pics and vids, it’s very easy to start sharing. The recipients will need to set up a free gmail account if they don’t already have one, but that is very painless, and once they see all the benefits included in Gmail, they’ll probably thank you later for your wisdom.
Here are the steps to upload your files to Google Drive directly from the DROID RAZR HD, and then share content with your family and friends. You first need to install the free Drive app and have your Gmail app setup. Both apps are free in the Google Play store. Then follow these instructions:
- Click and open the Drive app.
- Click on “My Drive”
- Click the settings tab in upper right, and select “Upload” for existing file or “New” to share a new file created in the moment.
- Choose the location of your files, ie. “Gallery” “Files”, “Choose Music Track”. Your recent pics and videos will be in your Gallery, so you can select “Gallery”
- Choose the file you want to share. It will begin uploading. This may take several minutes, depending on the size of the file.
- When the file is finished uploading, you will be taken back to “My Drive” and should see the newly uploaded file(s) in the list. Click the >button on the right hand side of file to bring up sharing page.
- Click on the +Add People button on the lower left, which will bring up a field to add email addresses.
- Type in the name of the email addresses you would like to share the file with, using a comma to separate them, and click on the “Add” button, and your done.
