Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean arrives for MOTOROLA ELECTRIFY™ M on U.S. Cellular

February 7, 2013 : BY Motorola

We’re happy to announce today that the Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade is rolling out to MOTOROLA ELECTRIFY™ M owners in phases. Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean offers new features and apps that make your life simpler. With features like Google Now, Voice Search and better notifications, all of your key information is at your fingertips.

  • Google Now – Ever wonder if a smartphone could prepare you for your day? With Google Now you get notifications generated automatically and in real-time even before you ask. Now your ELECTRIFY M can deliver sports scores, stock updates, weather reports and traffic updates so you have all the information you want even before you’ve had your morning coffee.
  • Voice Search - Ask a question and get back the answer you’re looking for, ranging from “When is the next bus?” to “Where can I find a great Mexican restaurant?” You’ll either get a spoken response back or search results that answer your query.
  • Better Notifications – You should be able to call or text someone back right from your missed call notification. With Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean you have the ability to do that and more. When you get a reminder about a meeting you can either tap once to snooze or even email participants to say you’re running late.

A friend just called and said that after Jelly Bean was installed on his Electrify-M (US Cellular), it got turned into a brick, in that the phone and Wi-Fi were disabled. He spent over an hour on the phone with USC and the phone is still not working. He will be doing more calling tomorrow. In the meantime, I’ve not updated mine.

Hello. We’ve been monitoring conversations and haven’t seen problems like your friend described. Please have him/her email us with EMEI # if still having problems. socialmedia@motorola.com thanks.

I’ve had the identical problem after the update. No Wi-Fi…and for a while no 3G network either. Notifications that appeared at the top in color are are now grayed out. I love this phone but the change certainly brought about frustration. Was at the USC store this am for about half hour…still no Wi-FI upon returning home. Frustrating for sure. I’ll go back tomorrow.

I updated my phone about 5 hours ago and so far have not had any issues with it. I really like some of the new things I can do. Still learning more though.

I never had any problems before the update, but not when I call someone I have to turn on the speaker phone on then off before anyone can hear me on the other end. Has anyone else had this problem???

Also want speed dials back, and can hardly hear anything in my earpiece now. Loved the phone before not so happy now.

I have noticed since I updated to the JB that that the ringtone volume is not as loud. If I turn my ringtone volume down below anything below 3/4 volume I have to hold the phone up to my ear to here it ring. Also When I use the “vibrate” option by pushing and holding the power button and click on vibrate. It is “silent” Anyone else having these issues?

Ever since the upgrade, my Moto Electrify M reboots as many as 5 times per day… usually when I’m in a conversation. It’s only been a couple of weeks that I’ve been using the product, and prior to the update, it worked perfectly.

Since the JB update a week ago, I’m having volume problems. Every morning my notification volume is set so low that I can’t hear it. I set it to max but then the next morning it’s turned down again (even if I don’t reboot the phone at night). This has happened EVERY day. Fix the volume problems!!

Post Jelly Bean update, bluetooth voice dialing doesn’t work *at all*. I sync my phone to my in-car setup, hold the send / answer key on my in-car control and it just automatically dials the last person I called. I’ve tried different things like simply pressing send instead of holding etc. Also, the first time the phone connects with the car after Bluetooth turns on, it automatically calls the last person I called and I’m constantly having to hit end or apologize to people I didn’t mean to call. The in-car system is an Aftermarket Motorola T605. You’d think Motorola products would work well together =/ I understand a lot of the issue is Android and not the Motorola HW but I’d expect better QA testing. Whatever manager pushed this out the door before it was ready should have his bonus withheld or fired if this is a reoccurring issue.

So, Motorola, why aren’t you releasing Jelly Bean for XYBoard 10.1? We’re beholden to YOU TO SUPPORT YOUR PRODUCTS!

  • Matthew Len

I guess Im lucky nothing bad happened to my phone besides now I have to go to the pc to transfer music videos and photos to sd card instead of the phone settings oh well no big deal for all the new stuff and how much faster my phone is.Thanks motorola Now I want the next major android version faster next time like within 6 months of it coming out please

What about Jelly Bean release for XOOM2 and XYBOARD?
Why Motorola is taking too long for this update?
Please SUPPORT your devices, and be respectful with your customers.
Many other manufacturers have JB on their tablets, even xinglings (chinese clones) have JB running on its devices, but the company owned by Google don’t??
    This is nonsense..

  • Honest view

No update for JB on XYBOARD 10.1
The 1st xoom tablet got the Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) upgrade in October 2012.
Which is like 8 months ago. Its a shame that the older device was upgraded to Jelly Bean 8 months ago and there is no information about the new tablets.
If Motorola wants the users to buy their products, it needs to keep the current customers happy. Or Motorola does not care once you buy their product.

I liked the design of my xyboard. But I think I will never recommend Motorola device to anyone. As there is no support for the products.

Hope you learn Motorola otherwise you will keep loosing market.

  • Jennifer Collette

Still no word or comments on if the xyboard 10.1 is going to get jelly bean??
