Google Play Music on your DROID RAZR M BY MOTOROLA

December 11, 2012 : BY Motorola

You’ve spent years building up your music collection and now have thousands of tracks to choose from. Only problem is, your MP3 player either doesn’t hold them all, or restrictions are placed on uploading and downloading them at will. If this sounds familiar, and you want all your music where, when and how you decide, it’s time to visit Google Play Music. The free Android app from the Google Play Store lets you listen to your music collection anywhere you have an internet connection, and even let’s you save favorites for offline listening for those times when the signal just isn’t there. The DROID RAZR M by Motorola is the perfect replacement for your old MP3 player, and all Motorola phones running Android 2.2 and up are ready to rock as well.

All your music is stored online, so no need to worry about syncing or storage space, and music purchases from Google Play automatically appear in the app. The best part is, you can add up to 20,000 more songs from your personal music collection for free. Whether they’re on iTunes, Windows Media Player or anywhere on your hard drive, the time for getting them all organized and streaming to you anywhere has arrived. Share a free full play of the songs you purchase from Google Play with your friends on Google+. The Google Play Store also has plenty of free songs available for download, and of course millions of songs available for purchase.

Listen to you music anywhere, instantly.

Translation apps were a great accomplishment when they came out, and can still be useful on occasion. Unfortunately, by the time you open the app, type in the words you want to translate, and then wait to read back the translated text to the recipient, the moment is lost.

Fortunately the fumbling and typing is no longer necessary with Google’s voice translate features that are part of the Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Now with your DROID RAZR M BY MOTOROLA and other Motorola devices that will soon be upgraded to Jelly Bean, you can speak your sentences into your smartphone and get a translation read out loud right away. You might still get some sideways looks for not speaking the local language when you travel, but at least they should respect your technological acumen for getting what you want to say out and translated in seconds.

UPDATE: Check out our new upgrade page featuring the latest news on Android software upgrades around the world at moto.ly/upgrade

At the new Motorola, we’re focused on making fewer, bigger bets that will redefine the mobile experience for our users.  And one of our top priorities is delivering great software upgrades. To that end, we’d like to share with you our latest developments:

DROID RAZR M BY MOTOROLA gets Android 4.1™ Jelly Bean

We’re excited to announce that DROID RAZR M is getting upgraded to Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean. Starting today, the upgrade will be rolled out to users in phases. Jelly Bean includes a number of fantastic new and improved features, including Google Now, Voice Search, and improved notifications. Check out Motorola.com/jellybean to learn more.

Looking ahead: software upgrades will be available for preview

We know it’s important for many of you to get the latest Android software upgrades onto your phones as quickly as possible. With that in mind, we’re also introducing Test Drive, a new program that will allow consumers to take our major software upgrades for a trial run and provide valuable feedback before we launch the upgrade publicly.  Starting with Android 4.2, the next iteration of Jelly Bean, we will release a preview of our software to a few hundred consumers that sign up for Test Drive.  More details on how to sign-up and participate will be announced on the blog soon.

Going forward, we are going to focus our efforts so that we can deliver consistently high quality experiences to our users.  Unfortunately that means not all phones will be getting upgrades.  If you own a device that’s not getting upgraded, we’ve created the Motorola trade up program.  The trade up program gives you $100 back on a new Motorola smartphone when you trade-in your old one–so you don’t have to miss out on Jelly Bean.  For qualifying devices and more details, check out Motorola.com/tradeup.

Clearly, there’s a lot going on at Motorola, and we have no intention of slowing down any time soon. DROID RAZR M is only the first of many devices to get Jelly Bean (the full schedule is here).   We’re a new company with a new approach, and a big part of how we’ll do business going forward is to keep our customers in the loop.  You can always reach out to us on Google+ as well as our other social media channels with questions or feedback.

Features, Software & Apps

In our second in a series of outings around the U.S., we deployed the Field Trip app as our guide to the cool, hidden, and unique things in the world around us. It runs in the background on your phone and when you get close to something interesting, a card pops up with locational details. No click required. If you have a wired or Bluetooth® headset connected, it will read the info to you. Check out this post with video from Google Online Courses Google+ Page

With our DROID RAZR HD BY MOTOROLA in hand, we focused strictly on historical sites and a few current artistic venues this time, relying  on Arcadia Publishing for the treasure trove of information on the early days of Phoenix and some surrounding areas. But for those of you more interested in the present, the app offers plenty of dining, shopping and fun things to do around town with the some of the other partners, including Zagat and Google Offers.

Discovering Phoenix from the 19th through 21st centuries
We headed out with a DROID RAZR HD to check on what ghosts of yesteryear were all around us, brought to our screen by the Field Trip app. The app peels back the layers of time to reveal the realities of the past. Some of the milestones we found: the first Schoolhouse with one teacher that taught every grade in 1873; the first fire-fighting apparatus in 1903; the Phoenix Railroad connecting to Tempe in 1910; their first Cotton Grading site in the 1920s; the Arizona Reptile Gardens in 1930;  the United Producers and Consumers Cooperative for distributing water around town in the 1940s; the Phoenix Art Museum built in 1959 and expanded to its’ current size; and the Eye Lounge, a modern Artist Collective that showcases up and coming talent year round.

Just as was the case in Chicago, this app is all about the art of the wander. Streets you’ve walked down before, or never knew existed, become alive in new ways. A tone and vibration alerts you when crossing another marker.  Stop, look, listen and above all enjoy your journey.

Trick or treat? These free Apps are definitely a treat for kids and any kids at heart. And they’re sugar-free and calorie-free, too. Compatible with most Motorola smartphones, you can find them in the Google Play Store.

Bubble Blast Halloween

Trigger an Halloween Chain Reaction. In this puzzle game you burst Halloween characters to trigger a chain reaction in order to eliminate them.

Coin Dozer Halloween

Brave the haunted house to drop coins into the graveyard for prizes and treats! Watch out for ghouls and ghosts! Try not to push the coins into the glowing side pits where monsters could be lurking. Collect jack-o-lanterns, candy, the witch’s cauldron and more for special bonuses or even more coins!

Doctor Bubble Halloween

Dr Bubble Halloween is a classic bubble shooting game in which you have to form groups of 3 or more microbes to clear the board entirely. In the challenge mode, you will be faced with increasingly difficult levels. Strategically shoot the microbes at the right spot and create the right combinations to clear any given level and move on to the next level for more bubble shooting fun.

Connect’Em Halloween

Connect’Em Halloween is a puzzle game in which you will have to strategically connect blobs together. Each blob only has a set number of connections available. So you have to make sure they all connect to each other the right way
