Features, Software & Apps

In our second in a series of outings around the U.S., we deployed the Field Trip app as our guide to the cool, hidden, and unique things in the world around us. It runs in the background on your phone and when you get close to something interesting, a card pops up with locational details. No click required. If you have a wired or Bluetooth® headset connected, it will read the info to you. Check out this post with video from Google Online Courses Google+ Page

With our DROID RAZR HD BY MOTOROLA in hand, we focused strictly on historical sites and a few current artistic venues this time, relying  on Arcadia Publishing for the treasure trove of information on the early days of Phoenix and some surrounding areas. But for those of you more interested in the present, the app offers plenty of dining, shopping and fun things to do around town with the some of the other partners, including Zagat and Google Offers.

Discovering Phoenix from the 19th through 21st centuries
We headed out with a DROID RAZR HD to check on what ghosts of yesteryear were all around us, brought to our screen by the Field Trip app. The app peels back the layers of time to reveal the realities of the past. Some of the milestones we found: the first Schoolhouse with one teacher that taught every grade in 1873; the first fire-fighting apparatus in 1903; the Phoenix Railroad connecting to Tempe in 1910; their first Cotton Grading site in the 1920s; the Arizona Reptile Gardens in 1930;  the United Producers and Consumers Cooperative for distributing water around town in the 1940s; the Phoenix Art Museum built in 1959 and expanded to its’ current size; and the Eye Lounge, a modern Artist Collective that showcases up and coming talent year round.

Just as was the case in Chicago, this app is all about the art of the wander. Streets you’ve walked down before, or never knew existed, become alive in new ways. A tone and vibration alerts you when crossing another marker.  Stop, look, listen and above all enjoy your journey.

Being perched nearly 5,000 feet above sea level, and looking down and around the Grand Canyon, is truly one of the most beautiful visual experiences in the world.  To help us understand the significance of the 5,000 feet between where we stood and the bottom of the canyon, our guide explained that it was 80 degrees or so at the floor of the canyon, while we were feeling 45 degrees with chilly winds.

No camera can replace actually seeing it for yourself, but if we must have pictures, the ones taken on the HDR setting of the DROID RAZR HD BY MOTOROLA are pretty darn good. Take a look and see:

5 Reasons to buy the DROID RAZR HD BY MOTOROLA

October 19, 2012 : BY Motorola

The new DROID RAZR HD BY MOTOROLA on Verizon Wireless is now available in-stores and on Motorola.com. Here are just five reasons why you’ll want this phone.

1. Battery life: All day and all night
A single charge keeps DROID RAZR HDpowered up for an eye-opening 24 hours of performance*. Watch up to 7 hours of your favorite YouTube HD videos or listen to 20 hours of streaming music. Surf the web at 4G LTE speeds for 6 hours. And that’s just for starters—use the SMARTACTIONS™ app to get even more hours of fun. No outlet in site?  Relax.  It’s a DROID RAZR HD.

2. HD Display: RAZR sharp detail
DROID RAZR HD’s 4.7″ HD display delivers vibrant visual clarity — the kind you’d expect from an HDTV. Better resolution means easier to read texts, web pages, magazines and books. Deeper colors for viewing photos and videos in more true-to-life color. And a smoothness that draws you into movie thrills like never before. Gorgeous display, powerful, RAZR thin – what’s not to love?

3. RAZR Design: Incredible features. Impossibly thin
You’ll get brains and beauty with this phone.  At a mere 8.4mm thin DROID RAZR HD is the world’s most compact 4.7” smartphone. Yet it still has more features, more battery life, and more visual detail than competing LTE smartphones. Turn-by-turn directions, voice-activated text messaging, up to 24 hours of performance, and a full 4.7” of high def viewing area, all in a phone as thin as half a deck of cards.

4. Jelly Bean Upgrade: Keeping you ahead of your day
DROID RAZR HD runs on Android 4.0 and soon, it will be upgradeable to the latest operating system. Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, is packed with new features and apps that help you tackle your busy schedule. Get automatic, real-time reminders before you even have to ask. You’ll know about the sudden thunderstorm warning as you’re getting dressed in the morning, or the accident that’s backing up the freeway.

5. 4G LTE Network: Make every second count
With DROID RAZR HD’s super speed, you’ll forget what it’s like to wait. Running on the nation’s fastest 4G LTE network, Google Chrome lets you surf the web at speeds like you have at home. Jump between pages as quickly as you can type, this mobile browser “talks” with your desktop’s version—letting you sync up bookmarks and even view the same tabs you have open on your computer.

Motorola Mobility @ TV’s Big Night

September 30, 2012 : BY Motorola

Television wasn’t the only ‘small screen’ getting lots of attention at TV’s annual awards show in Hollywood on September 23. The new DROID RAZR M BY MOTOROLA, the full-screen phone, had actor Chris McDonald in disbelief over how “wicked thin” the device is. Reality show judge Carrie Ann Inaba couldn’t wait to use hers to snap photos at the award show for her entertainment blog.

Motorola was on hand to prepare stars for the red carpet with its portfolio of cutting-edge, stylish devices, including the new DROID RAZR M, DROID RAZR HD, DROID RAZR MAXX HD and the new S11-FLEX HD wireless stereo headphones by Motorola, which offers a flexible fit and rock solid sound.

As a sponsor of the HBO Luxury Lounge that took place Sept. 21-23 in Los Angeles, Motorola gave more than 120 of the small screen’s hottest stars, like Lauren Bowles, Tony Hale, Edie Falco, Kate Flannery, Chris Noth, and Becca Tobin, a chance to get an up-close look at the devices.

There wasn’t a category for best new device, but if there was, Motorola was there to accept the inevitable statue and make their speech. Check out some of the photos from the event:
