DROID RAZR M by Motorola: Now available in Pink

January 24, 2013 : BY Motorola

We’d like to think you’d buy the DROID RAZR M by Motorola for the 4.3-inch screen on a vibrant, high-resolution Super AMOLED Advanced display. Or perhaps you’d buy it for the premium materials like an aircraft-grade aluminum frame surrounding the edge-to-edge display made of Corning® Gorilla® Glass to deflect both scratches and scrapes and a back made strong with advanced composite materials such as KEVLAR®. Or maybe even the water-repellent nanocoating protecting your phone—including the electrical boards inside, from spilled coffee, rain and other wet situations.

But if you want to buy it just because it comes in pink, we’re ok with that too. The DROID RAZR M by Motorola is now available in pink on Motorola.com

Sometimes we just want to use our voice instead of typing in our questions on a screen. With Google Voice search available on the DROID RAZR M by Motorola with the Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, you can do that more easily than ever before. Whether it’s asking trivia questions like how deep is the Pacific Ocean, to what the current score in your favorite teams’ game is, or even adding calories of the food choices you are about to consume, Google Voice Search has you covered.

This time of year, calorie counting can be a resolution saver, if you let it, so check out this video that we like to call Delicious Math:

Mobile phones have always come with user manuals, FAQs, tutorials and other self-serve help options, trying to answer the question: how the heck do I use this new device. Being the proud and sentient beings that we are, these are oten options we tend to ignore, and instead choose to learn by trial and error. It’s just a phone, of course I can figure it out on my own. But this isn’t your father’s phone, and with the power and features of a sophisticated computer from several years ago, there’s a lot you might be missing by leaving it all to your intuition. One of the reasons people have resisted these helpful tools in the past is the burdensome way that they were written, difficult to find, or the need to go back and forth between your phone and the manual, losing track of which page has which feature, etc.,etc.

Not to worry. With the DROID RAZR M by Motorola, help is just a button away. With everything from how-to videos, easy to navigate FAQs, and support contact info at your fingertips, you won’t be wasting time, you’ll be answering questions quickly and easily. Organized into easy-scroll pages, you’ll find everything you need to understand the settings on your phone. How to do messaging and calendar setup, to find your apps and get new ones easily, to show you how to use new features that come with software updates, and how to reset your phone and contact support. We’re not just talking about passive help here. When you click on many of the items in the support menu, your DROID RAZR M will actually take you on a test run of your new topic. If you want to learn how to ignore an incoming phone call, the Help app will send a fake call to your phone and give you onscreen directions on how to swipe left to end it. If you don’t get it right the first time, the app will coach you until you get it right, and then flash a ‘tutorial completed’ message.

If you need help directly from us, there’s one click access to the Motorola Support Forums, our support phone numbers and email address. You’ll never feel stranded on the tech-support highway again. You probably won’t need it, but rest easy knowing we’ve got your back if you do.

Check out more screenshots of the Help app on the Motorola Google+ page here.

Software & Apps

Translation apps were a great accomplishment when they came out, and can still be useful on occasion. Unfortunately, by the time you open the app, type in the words you want to translate, and then wait to read back the translated text to the recipient, the moment is lost.

Fortunately the fumbling and typing is no longer necessary with Google’s voice translate features that are part of the Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Now with your DROID RAZR M BY MOTOROLA and other Motorola devices that will soon be upgraded to Jelly Bean, you can speak your sentences into your smartphone and get a translation read out loud right away. You might still get some sideways looks for not speaking the local language when you travel, but at least they should respect your technological acumen for getting what you want to say out and translated in seconds.

UPDATE: Check out our new upgrade page featuring the latest news on Android software upgrades around the world at moto.ly/upgrade

At the new Motorola, we’re focused on making fewer, bigger bets that will redefine the mobile experience for our users.  And one of our top priorities is delivering great software upgrades. To that end, we’d like to share with you our latest developments:

DROID RAZR M BY MOTOROLA gets Android 4.1™ Jelly Bean

We’re excited to announce that DROID RAZR M is getting upgraded to Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean. Starting today, the upgrade will be rolled out to users in phases. Jelly Bean includes a number of fantastic new and improved features, including Google Now, Voice Search, and improved notifications. Check out Motorola.com/jellybean to learn more.

Looking ahead: software upgrades will be available for preview

We know it’s important for many of you to get the latest Android software upgrades onto your phones as quickly as possible. With that in mind, we’re also introducing Test Drive, a new program that will allow consumers to take our major software upgrades for a trial run and provide valuable feedback before we launch the upgrade publicly.  Starting with Android 4.2, the next iteration of Jelly Bean, we will release a preview of our software to a few hundred consumers that sign up for Test Drive.  More details on how to sign-up and participate will be announced on the blog soon.

Going forward, we are going to focus our efforts so that we can deliver consistently high quality experiences to our users.  Unfortunately that means not all phones will be getting upgrades.  If you own a device that’s not getting upgraded, we’ve created the Motorola trade up program.  The trade up program gives you $100 back on a new Motorola smartphone when you trade-in your old one–so you don’t have to miss out on Jelly Bean.  For qualifying devices and more details, check out Motorola.com/tradeup.

Clearly, there’s a lot going on at Motorola, and we have no intention of slowing down any time soon. DROID RAZR M is only the first of many devices to get Jelly Bean (the full schedule is here).   We’re a new company with a new approach, and a big part of how we’ll do business going forward is to keep our customers in the loop.  You can always reach out to us on Google+ as well as our other social media channels with questions or feedback.
