We’re happy to announce today that the Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade is rolling out to DROID 4 by Motorola owners in phases. This upgrade offers many features to help organize and make your life easier, including expanded notifications, Voice Search and Google Now. Here are some of the features included in the upgrade:

  • Expanded Notifications – So much to do and keep track of, so little time in the day. Now you can get reminders about important meetings from your calendar, like that big presentation you’re running late for. Email participants right from the notifications tab, so the there will never be a ball dropped with the client. These and many other notifications help organize your life, all right on your mobile..

  • Voice Search – Ask a question and get back the answer you’re looking for, ranging from “What is the weather today?, to “Where is the closest Thai restaurant?” or even “How far away is the moon?”  You’ll either get a spoken response back or search results that answer your query.

  • Google Now – With Google Now you get notifications generated automatically even before you ask as it learns what you search for the most. On a travel day, you can get the weather at both the departure and destination cities, traffic conditions to the airport to let you know if you should take public transit, which is also an available card, and when you arrive at the airport, your United Airlines boarding pass is there for you, ready to be scanned so you don’t have to dig through everything to find the paper version. What is normally a stressful event, is traveling made easy with Google Now cards guiding you every step of the way.

With the Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade on your eligible Motorola devices, you get a whole lot of new features, some which you might not even know about.

We all love to search. How do I make crab cakes? Where is the closest theater showing that new blockbuster movie? What kind of saw should I use for my upcoming project? The problem is, our lives are so hectic, we often start things with a search, but forget to follow through because we closed the tab or it just got lost in the shuffle. Well with some of the cards available on Google Now with Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean, your Google searches will pop up within a day or so to jog that memory back into place.

Besides the very helpful appointment, flight, public transit and many other info cards on your Google Now page, you can also enable the Movies, Research and Real Estate cards. After learning what you’re looking for based on your searches, the Google Now cards will act like your own personal assistant by reminding you about the things you’re already interested in. The cards will also offer additional recommendations that are related to your searches, like other recipes, because you can’t eat crab cakes every day.

And now your recently snapped photos will be ready for instant share to your connected  Google+ account in the expanded notifications menu. If you don’t want to share, simply swipe them away and they will be removed from notifications.

These are just a few of the enhancements available. Please visit the Jelly Bean tab on our new Android™ landing page.

There are a lot of ways to share data with your circles. You can email them, share on Google Drive, use a flash drive, etc. But with many of the latest Android phones coming with NFC capabilities, you can now easily share contacts, web pages, directions, apps and more with a simple touch and tap. Near field communication (NFC) technology makes it all possible. Just touch your DROID RAZR MAXX HD to another NFC-enabled Android device, then tap the screen to beam the content from your phone to another. With a future upgrade, you’ll be able to use NFC to make purchases at participating store registers.

Check out this video to see more on NFC sharing.
