Singapore Design Centre (Mobile Devices)
Since its set-up in 1984, the Singapore Design Center has gained in-depth experience in developing a wide range of wireless communications products. These include two-way radios, wireless phones, data terminals, paging products and cable modems. It is now the Global Center of Excellence for mass-market GSM and 3G phones and focuses solely on the design and development of mobile phones.
Major accomplishments of the center include the first cellular phone with fully interchangeable housings, and developmental work on innovative features such as EMS, SMS Chat, games, fun downloads, tricolor backlight and caller color profiling. Some of the cellular phone products that have been designed in whole or in part in Singapore include the L7, L6, V360/V361, C650, V80, V180 and V220.
The center's research and design talents are engaged in mechanical and electrical engineering, and software development.
The Customer Solutions Centre (CSC)
Launched in December 2005, the CSC is responsible for the development of customized mobile phone solutions and applications specifically to meet the needs of customers and consumers across the High Growth Markets of Southeast Asia, India, Australia, Middle East and Africa. Its regional charter includes product design and localization, technical support, product and program management, and development of software solutions.
