People Focus

People FocusAs an organization that has always prided itself in its people-friendly policies, technological solutions and working systems, GSG India understands the significance of individuality in an organization. Our respect for people and their needs encourages us to strive that much more towards making our employees' stay at the workplace a memorable one. Which is why we work towards ensuring long-term growth to everyone associated with the working of the organization.
  • By organizing fun get-togethers, sports events, community-development programmes etc., we make sure that employees have regular, interactive and entertaining sessions.

  • Invigorating sessions for the body and soul like yoga and meditation, health camps and a well-equipped fitness center ensure that the impact of sapping schedules and demanding lifestyles on our workforce is negated.

Social Project Group
"What one can do, one must do to light up the lives of others, and in doing so, their own"- this motto of our Social Project Group aptly describes the sentiments and motives of our employees in undertaking social welfare activities that are aimed at bettering the lives of the underprivileged in India.

GSG India's Social Project Group (SPG) comprises of a team of individuals who identify, coordinate and support welfare programs on behalf of the company. The group's objective is to initiate community activities, covering a wide span of areas, like the upliftment of rural women and children, orphaned children, destitute women, disabled, aged, etc. and then execute a whole range of programs in each of these areas. Some of the unique welfare programs we have undertaken are:
  • Blood Donation Camps: Held every year, for the past eight years, and done jointly with the Rotary TTK Blood Bank, we manage to collect, on an average, 60 to 70 units of blood at each of these camps. Our employees also help meet requests for blood donors, from hospitals and friends/relatives of patients, all through the year.

  • Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM): SVYM is a registered NGO started in 1984 by six students of the Mysore Medical College, working in the sectors of health and education. This organization has been playing a major facilitatory role in the field of community development, through its welfare program called ROHINI - Rural Oriented Health Initiative. This program envisages a health care delivery network, with emphasis on resource sharing, so that the utilization of all resources, including government machinery, is maximized for the benefit of the under-privileged. SVYM has three health centers and three mobile health units covering more than 100 tribal colonies in HD Kote Taluk, Karnataka, particularly in the field of reproductive and child health. Recognizing the nobility of the cause and the purposeful efforts of the organization, GSG India's SPG unit began its association with SVYM in 2001, when the company sponsored the Library area of SVYM's hospital. In 2003, we donated a further Rs.158,000 lakhs towards equipment for the hospital's Ophthalmology unit.

  • TEACH: An outreach program "To Educate A Child", initiated by our SPG unit, selected two organizations to reach out to - The Hope Foundation School at Bangalore and CHORD's Ashirwad project at Hyderabad. By managing to collect a total sum of Rs.126,000 lakhs in employee contributions, we were able to contribute significantly to the fast implementation of many of their projects. The GSG India Hyderabad Center also managed to sponsor Rs.60,000 towards clothes for school children.

  • Reach-Out Day: This special event, conducted every year in December, is an effort to bring Community Services Organizations and GSG employees closer. During this event, we invite various organizations to display their products for sale at our offices and distribute donor forms. The organizations participating include The Family, The Freedom Foundation, Shristi Special Academy, HOPE Foundation, New Horizon Trust for the Disabled, Spastics Society, Maya, Association for the Physically Disabled & SOS Children's Villages. The ever-improving success of this endeavor over the past five years has resulted in significant revenue for the participants.

  • GSG India was awarded the "Social Excellence Award-2003", in the category of "Social Initiative", by Shristi Special Academy, acknowledging the encouragement and support received from the organization. Shristi Special Academy is a day care center for the mentally challenged, helping them to become self-reliant members of society. The organization gets its funding by selling products like candles, diyas, cards, bags, vases, etc. made by the mentally challenged.

  • Another organization that GSG India's SPG unit is closely associated with is Prayaas. Prayaas, as the name suggests, is an effort, to make a difference to the deprived strata of our society, providing them opportunities to realize their ambitions and succeed in life. The organization promotes the sale of handicrafts made by poor women from the districts of Lucknow, Muzzaffarpur and Madhubani, in North India. By supporting sales in excess of Rs.66,000, GSG India has contributed towards the betterment of the lives of the needy.

  • Besides the above, GSG India has been constantly helping out in the working of Sumanahalli Society, an organization working for the awareness, treatment, training and rehabilitation of the leprosy and HIV / AIDS affected, striving to lead them from despair to hope through a variety of activities.
