As people increasingly rely on their mobile phones and other personal communications devices to stay in touch with family, friends and colleagues, we also want to wirelessly access and share more and more data, from digital photos to music to our vacation videos. Being able to do so in less-than-annoying time frames and for a reasonable cost will require new broadband wireless technologies.
The industry is exploring several options for these future generations systems, including Beyond 3G, 3.5G, 4G systems and Hot Spot programs. Motorola Labs is at the forefront of research in all these areas and is focused on technologies related to radio access, core networks, applications and service support.
