Is Motorola meeting the RoHS requirements in Europe?
Yes. Motorola electronic products that are shipped into the EU will meet the 2006 July 1 chemical restrictions by that date.
Is my phone EC RoHS compliant?
Yes. Phones shipped into the EU prior to July 1, 2006 may contain some of the restricted substances as the restrictions did not go into effect until that date. Such products were legally placed on the market before RoHS Directive came into effect.
Is the RoHS Directive intended to make my phone safer to use?
No. The RoHS Directive is directed at eliminating certain substances previously used in the manufacture of various electronic products. Although the Directive uses the term "hazardous" for these substances, that term does not apply to the use of the product by a consumer. The Directive is intended to reduce the possible environmental risk after disposal of the product -- for example, in a landfill. Phones with and without these substances are equally safe for use by consumers. The Directive promotes the environmental concepts of reduce, reuse and recycle. Motorola supports the goals of the Directive and will comply with these requirements.
Is my Motorola Accessory RoHS compliant?
Yes. Whilst not all Motorola accessory products will necessarily fall within the scope of the EC RoHS Directive, Motorola policy ensures that only accessories free of RoHS restricted materials will be placed on the EU market from the 1st July 2006 onwards.
What phones are EC RoHS compliant?
If you mean, what products do not contain RoHS restricted substances, any phones with a manufacturing date code post 30 June, 2006 will comply with the chemical restrictions.
What do I do with my pre-RoHS phone that I'm getting rid of?
The same as you would do under normal circumstances. Motorola supports and promotes recycling partnerships with industry and our customers to promote take back programs. For country specific guidance on how to recycle your used mobile phone, please refer to the Motorola recycling webpage. Alternatively, we recommend that you consult with your local carrier or retailer to determine whether they sponsor a phone take back program.
