Subject: Arrests made in New York City counterfeit operation
The police department in the City of New York, in cooperation with Motorola's Brand Protection team, successfully raided a business suspected of distributing counterfeit Motorola accessories. As a result of this 10-month investigation, two employees of this Brooklyn-based distributor were arrested and accused of selling counterfeit Motorola branded Bluetooth® headsets.
This case was developed based on leads from Motorola's valued distributors as well as confidential tips from reportfakes@motorola.com. More than 2,000 counterfeit Bluetooth headsets were seized with a street value of more than US$50,000. This case is being prosecuted by the District Attorney's office in Queens, New York. It should be noted that criminal charges are merely an accusation and that the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
