Master Black Belt Program Overview

About Motorola University’s MBB Certification Program

This MBB certification program is based on Motorola’s internal Master Black Belt certification, as well as on industry benchmarked certification programs.

The program includes the key steps required for certification, such as skill training, assessment and project demonstration/review.

    For MBB candidates to become a Motorola University Certified Master Black Belt requires the following:
  • Have a Certified Black Belt status
  • Complete of the required Six Sigma MBB training
  • Show proof of project application of the Six Sigma tools and methodologies that deliver bottom line savings and/or top line growth for the company
  • Completion of White Paper
** Note: Candidates achieving Certified Black Belt status from an institution different from Motorola University must compete the following: pass MU’s Black Belt exam with 80% or better and show proof of two completed BB projects. This entry requirement is part of the Application Process. The cost for the exam and the project reviews for these candidates is $1,000.

Upon completion of the Motorola University MBB Certification Program, you will receive:

A letter of Master Black Belt Certification from Motorola University.

A plaque signifying MBB Certification.

Registered in our Motorola University Six Sigma Black Belt web community.

Master Black Belts also facilitate project selection and project reviews. They mentor, teach and lead Black Belts and Green Belts to successful project completion. They consistently deliver exceptional bottom line savings and top line growth for the company.

Leader – Is skilled at working across boundaries, both functional and hierarchical, building relationships and inspiring commitment to project assignments. Can influence others without relying on formal authority.

Innovative – Is skilled at applying creative solutions to practical business problems and producing breakthrough business results.

Facilitator – Is skilled at building consensus and engaging people in team efforts; able to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the group.

Coach/Mentor – Is skilled at coaching and mentoring teams, Belts, Sponsors and Champions, challenging and supporting people to increase performance.

Results Oriented – Is driven to complete projects on-time, on budget, while achieving significant cost, revenue and customer satisfaction goals.

Master Black Belt Requirements

Pre-requisites

  • Motorola University Certified Black Belt

    or
  • Motorola University Approved Certified Black Belt from another institution
    Application
    Motorola University Black Belt Exam (Pass with 80% or better)
    Proof of 2 Black Belt Projects – reviewed and approved by M.U.

  • Black Belt Analytical Tools Review

Project and White Paper Requirements

  • 5 Project completions and Write-Ups – MU Review/Approval
  • Leadership White Paper – MU Review/Approval

Program Cost - $16,000*

  • This price includes all training, materials, review and approval of the 5 projects and the Leadership White Paper, and plaque with certification letter from Motorola University.
  • This price does not include non-Motorola certified Black Belts. An additional $1,000 application fee applies, bringing the total to $17,000.
