Motorola Mobilizes more than 5,000 Employee Volunteers in Asia Pacific on Global Day of ServiceEmployees in 45 countries participate in more than 300 projects with a focus on environmental sustainability Taipei – 15 Oct 2008 – More than 5,000 Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) employees will volunteer in Asia Pacific today during the company’s third annual global community service program. This year’s Global Day of Service, themed “Green & Global” will engage 10,000 Motorola employees in 45 countries and emphasize the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Motorola employees will take a half day off work to support more than 300 projects that address a variety of community concerns, including education, environmental sustainability and social services. To highlight the importance of environmental stewardship, this year, many Motorola employees will be teaching an environmental curriculum in classrooms across the globe. Additionally, The Motorola Foundation will arrange to have a non-profit organization plant a tree for every Motorola employee volunteer. Motorola employees who re-use their Motorola apparel from previous events will have a second tree planted in their honor.

In Asia Pacific, Motorola offices will carry out more than 90 projects benefiting the local communities, many which are green-related. Some highlighted activities include:
- Taiwan: donation and volunteering work at Eden Social Welfare Foundation and Bethany Nursery School.
- Australia: partner with CleanUp Australia to clean up local community in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney
- China: organize various activities in Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Tianjin such as bike to work program; talk on environmental protection at schools; on-street recycling awareness promotion; second hand goods barter among employees, etc.
- Hong Kong: clear weeds at Worldwide Fund Mai Po Nature Reserve; exploring wildlife tour for children from Mother’s Choice
- India: environment awareness programs in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Chennai, Hyderabad and Colombo, comprising nature walk, seminars at schools, poster design competition, gardening, etc.
- Japan: clean up neighbourhood in Tokyo, Kawasaki and Osaka; gardening work at the Yokufuukai Welfare facilities for the aged
- Korea: conduct educational session on environment to children at Samseong Orphanage for the Deaf; on-street campaign on reducing CO2 in daily life
- Malaysia: make terrariums at the Precious Children’s Home; clean-up and gardening at RACTAR (Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah) and organize educational environmental awareness activities such as recycling, waste management and caring for plants at the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Rumah Seri Cahaya Children's Home
- Singapore: beach clean-up at East Coast Park; gardening at MINDS (Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore) and AWWA (Asian Women's Welfare Association)
