New Motorola Software
Eases the Move to Lower Cost Per Port
TEMPE, Ariz., — February 11, 2003—
Motorola Computer Group, a part of Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT), today launched
FACT-SERVER, powerful call control software that enables network equipment
providers to easily deploy the lowest cost-per-port ComStruct packet voice
hardware. FACT-SERVER is a text-based protocol that integrates easily with
existing call agent applications to offer control and management using an IP
control socket.
The new software enables
packet voice applications to control multiple high-performance ComStruct™
CompactPCI® packet voice resource boards. Call agent applications with
FACT-SERVER can also control ComStruct PTMC modules mounted on custom carriers.
PTMC (PCI telecom mezzanine card) is a telecom-specific extension of the popular
PMC specification.
A packet voice application
with FACT-SERVER sees each board or module as an individual resource and can
control it with text commands. FACT-SERVER is built on top of Motorola’s
FACT-MG software, which includes carrier-class packet voice processing
capabilities, allowing you to run your existing call agent application in the
environment of your choice independently of the packet voice resources.
“FACT-SERVER abstracts our
customer’s application from lower level software and hardware resources,
so they can reduce their cost per port without major changes to their
application. Simple Megaco-like text commands
provide access
to robust and optimized voice processing resources such as all the common G
series codecs selectable on a call-by-call basis,” said Nigel Forrester,
product-marketing manager, Motorola Computer Group. “To make the
implementation process even smoother, we also include optional indemnification
for codec patent infringement.”
The
software includes tone detection and generation capability, packet voice playout
and an advanced jitter buffer to deal with delayed or lost packets. FACT-SERVER
incorporates an echo-canceller that has been verified as suitable for carrier
class usage with features such as 128ms tail length and dynamic path
tracking.
Pricing and
availability
FACT-SERVER developer software is available now at a
list price of $9995.
