Telenet Selects Motorola’s Broadband
Services Router (BSR) 64000 CMTS/Router for Advanced IP

Sept. 2003 -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) Broadband Communications Sector, the
world’s leading supplier of cable modems and digital cable set-tops, and
Telenet, one of the leading broadband network operators in Belgium, announced
that after a diligent evaluation, Telenet has selected the Motorola Broadband
Services Router (BSR) 64000 integrated cable modem termination system
(CMTS)/router for its ExpressNet project. The announcement was made prior to
IBC2003, September 12-16, 2003, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Motorola Stand
131, Hall 1).
Telenet’s decision to
rollout the Motorola BSR 64000 is one of the first concrete steps for the
Telenet ExpressNet project. This project will result in very high-speed data
services and other advanced applications offerings for Telenet customers by the
end of 2005. The rollout of the Motorola BSR 64000 by Telenet will be completed
by the end of the year, improving current high-speed data
services.

64000The Motorola BSR 64000 CMTS/router
features a high-performance, high-availability architecture and advanced routing
capabilities including MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Virtual Private
Networks (VPNs) for commercial customers. With its hardware-based packet
processing, the Motorola BSR 64000 can support a large population of modems and
multiple services through real-time treatment.
The BSR 64000 is a carrier-class broadband
services router and CMTS designed for large-scale deployment of Euro-DOCSIS
1.1/2.0 and PacketCable based services and applications. The BSR 64000

which eliminates potential “bottlenecks” and ensures excellent

high-security in packet filtering and
forwarding.

the ability to detect channel degradation and intelligently switch to better RF
spectrum or change the channel characteristics to ensure continued service

Intelligent Quality of Service (QoS) – the capability to ensure that
high-priority traffic receives first preference and that traffic streams with
the same priority equally share the available
bandwidth.
-- High Availability – architected
for 99.999 percent availability, it provides the fault detection and switchover
required for high-availability services. It is 100 percent redundant so that
operators can maintain carrier-grade availability
levels.
