In addition to the
Motorola Next Level booth (#618), Motorola is demonstrating a wide array of
“connected home” technology solutions at the “Motorola Home
Pavilion,” located centrally on the show floor. The Motorola Home
Pavilion gives attendees the opportunity to see the products in a networked home
environment, in addition to the traditional trade show setting. The pavilion
also combines Next Level technologies with Motorola wireless home networking
solutions for gaming and other Wi-Fi applications. More importantly, it
provides a tangible example at USTA TELECOM ’03 on how Motorola is
uniquely positioned to integrate technologies to deliver the broadband solutions
that communication service providers want to deploy to their
customers.
“Motorola’s telecom
solutions are designed to enable rapid and cost-effective implementation of new
advanced services for the ‘connected home’ – without requiring
the considerable time and expense of an extensive network overbuild. Our
customers have told us that this type of flexibility is one of their principal
platform requirements as they seek to deploy voice, high-speed data, and
broadcast digital video services. We are proud to be unveiling the
comprehensive Motorola platform at TELECOM ’03 – both in our booth
as well as the ‘Motorola Home Pavilion,’ Attendees will have the
opportunity to see our capabilities in a variety of settings,” said
Bruce Swail,
Motorola vice president and general manager and president, Motorola Next Level
Communications.
The solutions that being
showcased at the Motorola Next Level booth (#618) and in the Motorola Home
Pavilion include:
Motorola
Multiservice Access Platform. This product delivers any combination of
“triple-play” services (telephony, high-speed Internet and digital
video) through one common platform using xDSL applications via Digital Loop
Carrier and FTTP technologies. No matter how complex the service mix and how
varied the deployment scenarios, customers deploying the Multi-Service Access
Platform will be using common access equipment, common management systems, and
common gateway technology to deliver a consistent customer experience, whether
served through existing copper or
fiber.
Motorola Broadband Digital
Terminal 2 (BDT2). The Motorola BDT2 acts as the hub for all service
applications of the Multi-Service Access Platform. Residing at the central
office, the BDT2 system works in conjunction with Motorola’s remote
terminals and Residential Gateways™ to provide highly scalable telephony,
data, digital broadcast video, and on-demand services for any deployment
scenario – DLC, xDSL and fiber-to-the premises
(FTTP).
Motorola Residential Gateway
2200 (RG2200). The Motorola RG2200 is a world-class set-top box that
supports cable and satellite communications and entertainment services over the
telecommunications infrastructure. As part of the Motorola Multi-Service Access
Platform, the RG2200 bundles voice, data, broadcast and on-demand video
services. The RG2200 family of products provides customers a
“whole-home” solution, operating as a single access device to the
home, the RG2200 can deliver two or three concurrent streams of DVD quality
video to provide the functionality of multiple set-top boxes. In addition, the
RG2200 can be used to offer high speed Internet access, on-screen Caller ID, and
interactive features (e.g., pay-per-view (PPV), VOD, and interactive TV
applications.
Motorola Broadband
Services Access Multiplexer (BSAM). The Motorola BSAM provides high-capacity
throughput and port density for broadcast television, video-on-demand (VOD),
data, and interactive TV applications to the home or business over an existing
copper infrastructure. The BSAM was specifically designed to support areas with
dense subscriber populations including large multi-dwelling units and
concentrated urban, suburban, and campus
environments.
Motorola Universal
Services Access Multiplexer (USAM). The Motorola USAM provides high-capacity
throughput and port density for broadcast television, VOD, interactive TV
applications and telephony and data services to the home or business, over an
existing copper infrastructure. The USAM was specifically designed to support
areas with mid-to-low density subscriber populations including multi-dwelling
units, urban, suburban, and campus environments. Additionally, the USAM product
offers customers the ability to consider broadband data, broadcast video, and
VOD overlay strategies. Customers can protect their current investment while
rapidly deploying a broadband data and video solution throughout their existing
network infrastructure.
Motorola Universal
Service Access Multiplexer Single Shelf Enclosure 2 (USAM SSE2). Providing a
cost-effective, single-shelf solution designed to support low-density
deployments and broadband overlay configurations the USAM SSE2 improves the
economics of broadband service deployments by minimizing cabinet expenses. With
the USAM SSE2, full bundled services can be economically and quickly extended
deeper into the customer serving area. The USAM SSE2 connects easily to existing
remote terminal equipment and supports the rapid deployment of high-speed data,
video, and VOD services.
Network
Infrastructure Solutions: Motorola MWT.
The Motorola MWT is a flexible, high-density multiservice Optical Add/Drop
Multiplexer (OADM) and optical amplification platform that supports mixed 2.5G
and 10G services. Integrated within Motorola’s industry-leading
portfolio of multiservice transport solutions, including the Multiservice
Broadband Transport (MBT) platform, the Motorola MWT enables telecom and cable
operators to converge today’s metro network with an advanced optical
network supporting integrated transport and delivery of services such as voice
telephony, high-speed Internet/data access, and video on demand (VOD). The MBT
platform complements the MWT by unifying intelligent optical transport with
multiservice aggregation and switching to support the economical and efficient
provisioning of a wide array of high-bandwidth
services.
Motorola MBT5000. The Motorola
Multiservice Broadband Transport solution simplifies service providers' networks
and enables the delivery of next-generation data services - including Gigabit
Ethernet - as well as SONET-based services rapidly, efficiently and
cost-effectively. Deployed in headend and hub environments, the MBT Multiservice
Broadband Transport Platform addresses the challenges associated with delivering
high-growth, differentiated packet services over today's resilient SONET-based
infrastructure.
Motorola OA500. The
Motorola OA500 series is a family of low-noise, gain-flattened Erbium-Doped
Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA) with variable gain settings and Automatic Gain Control
(AGC) that's ideal for Metro and Long-Haul Dense Wavelength Division
Multiplexing (DWDM) applications. The optical design, coupled with its
sophisticated control circuit, allows this EDFA to provide constant gain as
wavelengths are added or dropped in the network. Any fluctuations from 0 to 40
wavelengths can be handled with its ultra-fast transient suppression. With
variable output power, diverse link lengths can be easily accommodated and
system design changes can be managed remotely without network
redesigns.
