Motorola Labs and Compeq Manufacturing
Announce Licensing Agreement
SCHAUMBURG,
Ill. and TAOYUAN, Taiwan. -- 24 February 2004 -- Motorola Labs, the advanced
research arm of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT), and Compeq Manufacturing Co., Ltd. of
Taiwan (TWN:COMPEQ) announced today that Motorola Labs has licensed its patented
Embedded Mezzanine Capacitor Printed Wiring Board (EMC PWB) technology to
Compeq. Utilizing the EMC PWB technology, Compeq will fabricate leading edge
PWBs incorporating embedded mezzanine capacitors for Motorola and Compeq’s
global customers.
“We are pleased to
license such leading edge technology from Motorola Labs in order to fabricate
advanced High Density Interconnect (HDI) PWBs incorporating embedded
passives,” said Mr. P.K. Chiang, vice president of technology for Compeq.
”Motorola is utilizing the technology in a growing number of wireless
applications, and we are very pleased to add Compeq as a licensee,” said
Dr. Aroon Tungare, manager of advanced integration technologies for Motorola
Labs.
