Motorola and Grupo Antolin Form Strategic Alliance to Jointly Develop Interior Systems for the Automotive Industry

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. AND BURGOS, SPAIN, March 15, 2004 -- Motorola, Inc. and Grupo Antolin announced today that they have signed a global agreement to integrate Motorola’s in-vehicle interior electronics into Grupo Antolin’s systems portfolio. The new relationship will provide automobile manufacturers with an easier and more cost-effective way to source products for vehicles.

Motorola will embed its interior electronics into Grupo Antolin’s systems portfolio including, Motorola’s seat zone modules; door zone modules that control door lock and unlock, power window and side-view mirrors; and overhead controls.

The strategic move enables Grupo Antolin and Motorola to provide their customers with high-quality interior electronics, and strengthen the supply chain for their respective customers by reducing the number of suppliers.

“Grupo Antolin's expert modular approach combined with Motorola's automotive and wireless competencies will enhance driving comfort, convenience and safety. By working together we are able to provide our customers with a unique approach to automotive design in a cost-affordable manner and come to market faster,” said Kieran O'Sullivan, vice president and general manager of Interior Electronics for Motorola Automotive. “Together we will significantly impact the next generation of vehicle interiors by reducing system complexity and advance scalable architectures while delivering the quality experience and value the automotive industry demands."

Jose Manuel Temiño, Grupo Antolin Chief Executive Officer explained: "This agreement provides best-in-class electronics solutions for Grupo Antolin complete range of products, which also means a further step to offering enlarged multi-functional integrated systems according to the demand of the OEMs.”
