Motorola Makes Hands-Free Dialing Easier
with a new Aftermarket Integrated System with Bluetooth® Wireless
Technology
Cornerstone of
corporate-wide product strategy is a standards-based approach to ensure
compatibility across multiple devices and
vehicles
CeBIT -- HANNOVER, GERMANY -- 18
March 2004 -- Busy mobile-professionals and tech-savvy consumers will appreciate
the Integrated Hands Free system with Bluetooth wireless technology that
Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) unveiled at CeBIT today. The latest Motorola
in-vehicle system will automatically connect securely to a driver’s
Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, whether the conversation was initiated before or
after starting the vehicle, all without wires or
connections.
The Motorola Integrated Hands Free
system with Bluetooth wireless technology features intuitive user controls and
is designed to help drivers keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
By incorporating advanced voice recognition technology into the system, drivers
have the ability to simply speak the telephone number to which they would like
to be connected, and the technology will place the call on the driver’s
behalf.
The Motorola Integrated Hands Free
system supports the latest Hands-Free 1.0 Profile (HFP1.0). After the system is
professionally installed, the driver conducts a one-time “pairing”
to securely link the device with the vehicle. The process takes about a minute
and is made easy with Motorola’s voice-driven menu prompts. Up to four
devices can be easily and securely paired with the
system.
Once a wireless link is established, a
mobile phone will automatically connect to the Motorola Integrated Hands Free
system, regardless of its location inside the car. The system enables drivers
to:
• Automatically transition
calls being conducted outside the car to the audio system inside the car. Upon
entering the car, an invisible wireless link is established between the mobile
phone and the car. Calls that are in progress as a driver enters the vehicle
are transitioned to the Motorola Integrated Hands Free System and calls are
audible from the vehicle speakers. As a driver turns off the ignition and exits
the vehicle, phone calls are automatically transitioned back to the mobile phone
enabling consumers to continue their conversation while they are
on-the-go.
• Place mobile phone
calls at the touch of a button. One touch and the car radio is muted and the
driver is able to, in a natural voice, speak the number that is to be dialed.
Once a call is connected, the other party is audible over the existing
high-quality audio speakers inside the car.
• Transfer a phone call being
conducted over the audio speakers inside the car, to a privacy mode. After a
driver touches the privacy button, mobile phone calls are automatically
transferred back to the mobile phone so calls can be conducted in a
discretionary manner.
• Answer
mobile phone calls at the touch of a button and know who is calling. As calls
are received by the system, the car audio is muted and the incoming phone number
is announced to the driver via voice prompts over the vehicle
speakers.
Motorola has utilized its expertise
in wireless and automotive technology to optimize the sound quality of the
Integrated Hands Free system by employing advanced noise suppression and echo
cancellation technology to reduce background vehicle noise.
Motorola intends to sell stand-alone and
integrated versions of the latest Integrated Hands Free system with Bluetooth
wireless technology to automakers, Auto Dealerships and in automotive consumer
retail stores during the second half of
2004.
During 2004, Motorola will continue to
introduce a complete portfolio of Bluetooth products including mobile phones and
hands-free accessories.
The new Motorola
Integrated Hands Free system is compatible with a range of products, regardless
of the manufacturer. Motorola compatible wireless handsets include the latest
V600, V500, V525, A925, E398, V80, E680, and A835 cell phones and accessories
include Wireless Headsets HS820, HS810, HS801 and Portable Wireless Speaker
HF800.
