Motorola Expands Two-Way Radio Portfolio
with Latest Talkabout® T6226
Model
With Easy-to-Use
Features, the Motorola T6226 Offers Family and Friends Quick Access to Stay
Connected On Group Outings
SINGAPORE, - 25
May 2004 - Motorola’s (NYSE: MOT) Commercial, Government and Industrial
Solutions Sector (CGISS) today announced its latest recreational two-way radio -
the Motorola Talkabout® T6226 – that provides instant
communication in a simple and affordable manner. Operating in the 446 MHz
frequency range and using ordinary batteries, the T6226 has a transmission
radius of up to three kilometres (range will vary depending on terrain
and conditions), making it an ideal communication device for a user to stay in
touch with individuals or with groups of friends and family in crowded areas or
on group travel trips.
Whether taking a
shopping trip at the mall, or going for a picnic at the beach, or just hanging
out around the neighbourhood, the Talkabout T6226 is suitable for people of all
age groups, from young children, teenagers to parents. For instant
communication, simply push a button to talk, release to listen.
“The Motorola T6226 two-way radio is
versatile and yet simple enough to use,” said Phey Teck Moh, Vice
President, Motorola Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and General Manager, Indirect Business,
Commercial, Government & Industrial Solutions Sector (CGISS), Asia Pacific.
"The model T6226 offers the perfect solution for families who need a dependable
way to stay connected with their loved ones at family activities at the quick
push of a button. Young people constantly on-the-go will find the T6226 an
affordable way to stay in contact with their friends on group outdoor
trips.”
One key feature of the T6226
two-way radio is its capability to create individual communication groups
through different code combinations. With five channels and 38 interference
eliminator codes, users have up to 190 opportunities to find a channel
with minimum interference. In addition, the Eavesdrop Reducer feature, a
scramble code that makes the user's transmissions sound garbled to anyone
listening without the same code adds another layer of privacy - helping to keep
private conversations less public.
The T6226
two-way radio offers several call management features that include a talk
confirmation tone that signals others when one party is done talking (or the
modern way to communicate "Roger"). In addition, the T6226 comes with 10
different call tones that allow for easy identification of callers within a
group. It also has an audible call tone to get others' attention before one
party starts talking. The T6226 model also allows the user to set the two-way
radio on vibrating mode or silent mode when
desired.
Other user-friendly features include a
keypad lock function to prevent settings from accidentally being changed, as
well as a low battery alert signal. For additional ease of use, the hands-free
VOX feature allows for hands-free talking with or without
accessories.
The features-rich Talkabout T6226
comes in a rugged, sporty package. It is available in three eye-catching primary
colours like citrus yellow, forest green and navy blue. The two-way
radio’s ergonomically designed form factor fits comfortably in the
user’s hand, making it a cinch for kids and elderly folks to use.
The Motorola T6226 uses three AA alkaline
batteries. The approx battery life during two-way use for AA alkaline is 35
hours. Two-way use is defined as 90% standby time, 5% talk time and 5% receive
time.
The Motorola Talkabout T6226 two-way
radio is expected to be available in Singapore in July 2004. There will
be no monthly subscriptions and carrier or airtime usage fees. Users do not need
a license to own and use this Talkabout T6226 two-way radio in Singapore. The
T6226 two way radio complies with the regulation of Infocomm Development
Authority of Singapore.
Editor’s
note: The Infocomm Development Authority of
Singapore (IDA) announced in early February 2004 that it had allocated the 446.0
to 446.1 MHz frequency band for low-powered walkie-talkies. Motorola Talkabout
T6226 does not cause interference with other licensed radio services, and thus,
do not need to be licensed for use in
Singapore.
