Motorola Introduces MAPS 2.0 Advanced
Provisioning System Featuring Enhanced Flow-through Provisioning for
PacketCable Voice and DOCSIS at
IBC2004
Interactive
Enterprise’s integrated OSS technology upgrade, allows MAPS 2.0 to
help operators drive down the cost of activating advanced broadband services.
Amsterdam, Netherlands, 8 September 2004
— Motorola, Inc (NYSE:MOT) today announced Version 2.0 of the Motorola
Advanced Provisioning System (MAPS) which will enable broadband operators to
rapidly deploy PacketCable based voice services cost effectively. MAPS is a
critical element in Motorola’s end-to-end VoIP solution and includes
Interactive Enterprise’s upgraded ConexonTM Service
Provisioning Module, one of the leading globally deployed systems in the cable
activation market.
MAPS also includes modules
from Incognito, Inc. for IP management and device provisioning. MAPS is now
deployed by more than 20 broadband operators worldwide with recent deployments
in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
With MAPS,
the steps for cable operators involved in service creation, activation,
management and billing are automated, allowing them to quickly deploy and manage
advanced data and telephony services. They can accelerate time-to-revenue and
support flexible service deployment models.
MAPS Version 2.0 contains many new
enhancements including:
Added flow-through provisioning for PacketCable voice
and DOCSIS high-speed data services which helps operators drive down the cost of
activating new services
Billing Gateway feature enables operators to create
their own integrations to MAPS from their front-and back-office
systems
Dynamic configuration file generation capability
supports secure PacketCable voice
services Supports static IP addressing for
business and other customers
Open adapter framework enables the development of new
interfaces to soft-switches, circuit switches and media gateways in addition to
email and Web packages Utilities that support
batch data input and data migration
“MAPS
is a strategic differentiator for Motorola’s end-to-end data solutions and
is commanding the attention of many broadband operators, particularly those
considering the deployment of VoIP services,” said Charles
Dougherty, Motorola vice president and general manager,
IP solutions. “We are pleased to partner with Interactive Enterprises for
the advanced service provisioning capabilities we can now offer customers via
MAPS version 2.0.”
“We have a
strong working relationship with Motorola and are delighted with the success
MAPS has had in markets around the world,” said Paul McBride, CEO,
Interactive Enterprise. “MAPS is based on years of collaboration to
address market needs through product development, technical support and customer
service. The enhanced features of the Conexon platform will help operators drive
down costs and deliver a rapid ROI.”
Motorola Advanced Provisioning System
(MAPS) The Motorola Advanced Provisioning
System is an integrated system comprised of the following
modules:
Conexon Service Provisioning Module
(SPM). The SPM, based on Interactive Enterprise’s Conexon platform, is
an end-to-end broadband OSS service activation and provisioning solution. An
open and modular product, it has been deployed by operators globally to automate
the delivery of differentiated high-speed data, VoIP and interactive TV
services.
The module enables flexible
automated service creation and activation. It includes a Service Catalog where
each service is defined and then associated with subscribers. The Service
Provisioning Module includes the ability for operators to define service
availability based on flexible criteria including network and Customer Premise
Equipment (CPE), and on a subscriber's geographic location. The Service
Provisioning Module reduces or eliminates manual work processes, allowing
operators to drive down the cost of in-house IT support, and provides the
service mediation needed to enable integration with in-house and third-party OSS
applications. It provides full support for flexible provisioning models,
including:
Provisioning through a customer
service representative Customer self-provisioning
Retail provisioning
The Service Provisioning Module manages
interfaces with external applications (such as customer care and billing),
manages the activation and maintenance of content services, and communicates to
the Device Provisioning Module the required configuration parameters for CPE
devices.
IP Management Module.
Auto-configuration and self-installation of cable modems, set-top boxes and
MTAs is critical to the lowering of service costs, accelerating service revenue,
improving customer service, and lowering operational costs. The IP Management
Module not only brings users online quickly and efficiently, but also includes
scalable, easy to administer management tools that allow cable operators to
efficiently manage subscriber growth. These tools include the
following:
Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP)
for distributing IP addresses
Domain Naming Services (DNS) for managing domain name
records and Web addresses
Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) for downloading
service or equipment profiles and configuration files from the Service
Provisioning Module
Time of Day (ToD) server for centralized
synchronization
Device Provisioning Module.
The Device Provisioning Module allows operators to automatically provision
subscriber access devices according to PacketCable and DOCSIS standards. It will
add, delete and modify MTA or cable modem configurations based on information
provided by the Conexon Service Provisioning Module, IP Management Module, and
external customer care and billing systems,
including:
Level of data
service Cable modem host name for DNS
resolution
MTA host name for DNS resolution and access to
provisioning information via the MAC address Voice
provisioning information on a per-line
basis
Motorola will be demonstrating MAPS 2.0
at IBC2004 (RAI, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 10 - 14 September, 2004) at
the Motorola stand 141, Hall 1.
About Interactive Enterprise (www.interactive-enterprise.com) Founded
in 1998, Interactive Enterprise, Ltd. develops and markets broadband
provisioning and service activation software to global broadband operators. Its
ConexonTM software platform is the #1 solution deployed globally and
enables operators to rapidly deploy voice, video and data services to their
subscribers across multiple broadband platforms and devices. The company markets
its multi-service offerings throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and
Asia directly and through channel partners such as Motorola and CSG Systems.
Interactive Enterprise differentiates its
Conexon platform on its ability to reduce operating costs by as much as 40
percent with a 7-12 month ROI. It also offers an accelerated time to revenue as
operators can both deploy Conexon applications and rapidly develop and deploy
their own complementary service packages from the platform. Further, Conexon
enables operators to define any service and develop interfaces into third-party
complementary applications such as digital head-ends, telephone switches,
billing systems, etc. This gives operators complete control over the end-to-end
creation and delivery of services and protects their investments. It also
enables the rapid uptake of services by subscribers, thus increasing the service
provider’s average revenue per user
(ARPU).
