Motorola SBG900J Wireless Cable Modem
Gateway is Being Deployed by J-COM for First Wireless LAN Cable Internet Service
in Japan
TOKYO – 1 November 2004 --
Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) today announced that Jupiter Telecommunications Co.,
Ltd. (J-COM), Japan’s largest multiple system operator, is deploying the
Motorola SBG900J wireless cable modem gateway with integrated WLAN functionality
for “J-COM Net Premier Home LAN” service in Q4 2004. It is
Japan’s first deployment of wireless cable internet service.
Based on the
DOCSIS® 2.0
certified SBG900 platform, the Motorola SBG900J is designed to meet Japan's
advanced market requirements for expanded upstream frequency support up to 55Mhz
which allows broadband operators to provide greater flexibility and more
bandwidth to their subscribers. It incorporates Motorola’s industry
leading SURFboard cable modem technology as well as IEEE802.11b/g compliant
access point and the latest firewall all combined in one compact modem. This is
one of the best possible broadband solutions for consumers at home and in their
small or home office.
