Motorola Offers Consumers a Range of Options to Seamlessly Transition Mobile Phone Calls Inside and Outside the Car

Cannes, France – February 14, 2005 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) will be showcasing its complete line-up of in-vehicle Bluetooth wireless technology solutions — including its embedded system as well as its aftermarket Bluetooth Car Kit Portfolio — during 3GSM World Congress being held in Cannes, February 14 -17.

Motorola has an in-vehicle hands-free solution to meet most European consumers’ needs and also is working with leading automotive companies to factory-fit Bluetooth wireless technology into vehicles. Motorola has developed customised, embedded Bluetooth wireless technology systems for many 2005 model year vehicles being sold in Europe and the United States.

When Bluetooth wireless technology is integrated into a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) and installed at the factory, consumers have the ability to operate a compatible mobile phone with Bluetooth wireless technology using steering wheel controls and voice recognition technology. Mobile phone calls are then broadcast through the high-quality audio system of the car, providing hands-free convenience. The Motorola system can also provide access to a number of advanced features such as stolen vehicle tracking, remote door unlock and emergency assistance in the event of an accident.

Additionally, Motorola offers European consumers three aftermarket car kit products that can be installed into nearly any car. Motorola is demonstrating its aftermarket Bluetooth car kit portfolio that can provide consumers with an automotive hands-free solution with compatible Bluetooth enabled phones supporting the hands-free profile 0.96 or 1.0.

The first product in Motorola’s highly anticipated aftermarket portfolio, the Motorola IHF1000 is expected to be available in the France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom during the first quarter of 2005.

This easy to use premium, professionally installed aftermarket car kit is voice operated and supports four languages, making it simple to add and remove Bluetooth enabled phones.

A haute couture, backlit controller is mounted to the dashboard to provide an intuitive user experience without the need for an additional display. At the touch of a button, Motorola’s Bluetooth Car Kit IHF1000 will mute the audio system inside the vehicle and “listen” to the driver say the number or name they wish to call, or access speaker-independent voice tags stored in the vehicle as well as the speaker-dependent voice tags stored on their mobile phone. The system also will announce incoming calls, voicemail, SMS and low battery indicators to the driver.

Motorola is showing all of the products and services mentioned above on stand A21 in Hall 1 at 3GSM World Congress.
