Motorola’s Broadband Services Router (BSR) 64000 CMTS Selected by J:COM to Support IP Service

TOKYO – 18 May 2005 – Motorola Inc. (NYSE:MOT) today announced that it has been selected to supply Jupiter Telecom Co. Ltd. (J:COM), Japan’s largest multiple system operator (MSO), with Motorola BSR 64000 CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) /edge routers. The routers are being used in the cable system to support high-speed Internet service based on DOCSIS® 2.0, which J:COM deploys.

The Motorola BSR 64000 CMTS platform offers DOCSIS 2.0 support, together with the redundancy essential for delivering services such as VoIP and VOD, to consumers in Japan. The Motorola BSR 64000 has already been deployed globally by many cable operators, but this is the first time it has been selected by Jupiter Telecom.

Motorola also supplies cable modems and the SBG900J wireless cable modem gateway to J:COM for its high-speed wireless internet service. Motorola is now providing J:COM with end-to-end solutions from the infrastructure technology to the consumer premise solutions.

The BSR 64000 is a carrier-class CMTS that delivers both the capabilities of an intelligent edge router and wire-speed based high performance.
