SCHAUMBURG, Ill – 2 Dec. 2005 –Motorola, Inc (NYSE: MOT) iRadio® was named Best Radio Service at the 2005 Digital Entertainment and Media Excellence Awards, held Thursday evening in Los Angeles.
The award ceremony was part of the two-day Digital Entertainment and Media Expo (DEMXPO), co-sponsored by Billboard® Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, AdWeek, Nielsen Entertainment and Digital Media Wire.
Motorola iRadio was recognized by a panel of judges from across the entertainment and digital media industries as the “the best radio service (digital, Internet, satellite or other format) with respect to variety, innovation and user experience.” Other finalists in this category included XM® Satellite Radio, America Online’s AOL® Radio Network, and Yahoo! LAUNCHcast Music Radio Service.
“Motorola iRadio creates a uniquely personal music experience – it’s only the music and talk you want to hear, seamlessly following you from your home to your car and anywhere else,” said Mike Gaumond, vice president and general manager, Motorola iRadio. “We are honored the DEMXPO judges have recognized the powerful potential this experience can offer consumers, artists, and labels.”
Motorola iRadio is transforming the very nature of radio by making it more portable and self-expressive than ever before. The service will offer hundreds of pre-programmed, commercial-free music and talk channels covering virtually any genre, style, or topic. The unique iRadio listening experience stays with you as you move from home, to car, to on-the-go through the use of Bluetooth® technology, high-speed Internet service, and the one device you are never without: a mobile phone.
Earlier this week, Motorola iRadio announced that Universal Music’s hottest Nashville artists including top CMA award winner Lee Ann Womack, Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, Vince Gill, Terry Clark, George Strait, Gary Allan, Reba McEntire and more will launch individual channels on the service.
