Motorola Invests in Sequoia Communications

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., – 14 February, 2005 – Motorola Ventures, the strategic investment arm of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced it made an equity investment in Sequoia Communications, the RF semiconductor company setting new benchmarks in multi-mode design and integration.

Sequoia Communications’ RF systems are built on the FullSpectraTM architecture that enables the company to develop multi-mode transceivers with significant advantages over other solutions in cost, printed circuit board (PCB) size and power consumption.

“Our decision to invest in Sequoia Communications was driven by their unique RF transceiver architecture that can integrate any combination of modes in less than half the time of those using other architectures,” said Warren Holtsberg, corporate vice president, equity investments, Motorola. “We believe Sequoia Communications’ architecture will enable them to set new benchmarks in RF design cycle time as well as cost, size and power consumption.”

“We are extremely pleased Motorola decided to invest in our company,” said David Shepard, CEO of Sequoia Communications. “Motorola’s decision supports our vision to deliver advanced RF transceivers for multi-mode devices based on our patented architecture.”
