– Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced the recent signing of a commercial contract with the Guangdong Branch Company of China Unicom Co., Ltd. (Guangdong Unicom) for a large-scale deployment of its Intelligent Design and Growth Planning (IDGP) Service. This contract will help Guangdong Unicom effectively optimize network resources and topology to match traffic distribution, and further demonstrates Motorola’s position as a leader in the network performance and optimization services space.
IDGP helps operators solve network quality issues from continuous changes in traffic patterns that derive from unbalanced utilization of network infrastructure resources. The service also reduces the time required for effective network design and optimization in the rollout of new, compelling value–added services and applications for Guangdong Unicom subscribers, while enhancing coverage and reducing costs.
The service contract will also allow Guangdong Unicom to achieve better network performance, increased service coverage and revenue. Customers of Guangdong Unicom will benefit from greater coverage and service reliability that IDGP is designed to deliver. Guangdong Unicom will deploy the solution in at least 4 major cities, covering 20,000 transceiver control units (TCUs). The deployment will take up to 3 months to implement in each city.
Motorola’s IDGP service solution is delivered through a comprehensive mix of expert resources, utilizing advanced tools and a proven design and optimization methodology which provides tangible benefits of rapid, accurate network design and optimization. IDGP allows for rapid identification of quality issues in the network based on data from the actual users’ network experience. IDGP provides Motorola’s customers with a solution to save time and effort in maintaining the network at the most optimal level.
“As a comprehensive network performance service solution, IDGP allows Guangdong Unicom to effectively use network resources, cut down on operational expenses and minimize traffic loss,” said T.K.
