The Motorola Messenger Modem is a revolutionary product that allows
you to save costs by using your
cell phone to access a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) network
by using any of the voice enabled
instant messenger products currently available.
Here’s how it works:
Call your home-based computer from your cell phone. The Motorola
Messenger Modem will answer and activate the instant messenger
software installed on your computer (All are free and easily downloaded. Yahoo, AOL, MSN, Skype*—Motorola Messenger Modem works
with them all). You will be prompted to enter the code for your
recipient that is preprogrammed as a “buddy” in your instant messenger software. The Motorola Messenger Modem will connect to
your buddy through a broadband internet connection on your computer.
You’ll enjoy a high-quality, real-time voice conversation that can
span the globe for the cost of a local call. This technology works
in reverse as well. If a “buddy” on your instant messenger contacts
your computer, the Motorola Messenger Modem will dial out on the
modem line to your cell phone. You answer the call and have a normal
conversation!
Use your cell phone as a cordless phone?–yes!
If you have a Bluetooth enabled cell phone and PC and a broadband
internet connection, the Motorola
Messenger Modem will connect to your instant messenger software
through Bluetooth and you can have a voice call without using
airtime at all! Motorola Messenger Modem can also make a Bluetooth voice call through the public switched telephone network. You don’t
even need a broadband internet connection.
Dial Into your corporate VoIP network for low cost calls?–YES!
In addition, Motorola Messenger Modem allows you to dial into a
corporate VoIP network to take advantage of lower cost long distance
phone calls.
What is a Messenger modem?
The Motorola Messenger Modem is based on the successful and proven
SM56 UbiSurf softmodem–Motorola’s unique software modem. Using
technology that relies on software to eliminate the need for a dedicated modem processor, the result is lower cost with a smaller
