Peter Lawson is executive vice president, general counsel and secretary for Motorola, Inc., a position he assumed in 1998. In this role, he manages Motorola's law department, including the intellectual property, transactions, litigation and law sections of the Motorola sectors. He is secretary to the Board of Directors at Motorola and also manages the Office of Ethics and Business Compliance.

Prior to assuming his current position, he was senior vice president, general counsel and secretary; senior vice president and assistant general counsel; corporate vice president and assistant general counsel; vice president and general attorney; and associate general attorney.

Prior to joining Motorola in 1980, Lawson was senior attorney for Baxter International, Inc.. Earlier, he was an associate with Sullivan & Cromwell, New York.

Lawson holds a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia University School of Law, and a bachelor's of arts degree from Dartmouth College.

Lawson is a member of the Illinois State Bar, New York State Bar, Association of General Counsel, CLO (Chief Legal Officer) Roundtable, North Shore General Counsel Association, American Bar Association, American Corporate Counsel Association and American Society of Corporate Secretaries.
