Our
Motorola Product Testing Services team
can provide testing and UL Recognition
for your primary (non-rechargeable)
and secondary (rechargeable)
lithium-ion batteries and/or cells
under UL 1642. We can provide
compliance verification testing for
not only single cell applications, but
also two or more cells connected in
series, parallel, or both. While we
can provide full testing capabilities
for either application, the test
programs required under this standard
differ based on whether your cell is a
technician and user replaceable
battery or cell applications.
Depending on the type of cell that you
are interested in testing, the test
program will be a modification of a
base set of tests using different
charge states and usage conditions
(fresh and cycled cells). The basic
set of tests falls into four categories
Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical
and User-replaceable battery testing.
The breakdown of testing is as
follows:
Electrical
- Short-circuit at room
- Short-circuit at
55°C
- Abnormal charge
- Discharge
Environmental
-
Heating (130°C)
-
Temperature cycling
-
Altitude simulation
Mechanical
-
Crush
-
Impact
-
Shock
-
Vibration
User-replaceable battery testing
At Motorola Product Testing Services,
we have full testing capabilities for
all of these tests. Our technical
expertise and competency have been
evaluated by Underwriters Laboratories
and we are able to provide full
certification services with them for
all testing under UL 1642. Due to the
volatile nature of testing lithium-ion
products, our team uses state of the
art safety chambers with remote data
acquisition systems and video
recording of most testing in this
standard. This allows us to provide
you with optimal testing capabilities
in a safe and regulated environment. |
