Determination of the temperature rise/distribution inside battery-pack
allows placement of thermal sensors in locations where the temperature
rise is at the highest during operation. In this example, thermal modeling is used for
determining such locations in order to minimize design time and ensure
product safety and reliability.

Thermal modeling
can be
used to determine temperature rise and
distribution inside a computer battery pack that
is providing 50 watts constant power at 45°C ambient.

Comparison of experimental and
modeling data are shown, and also the region of
interest was temperature of the location around
electrical connectors (77°C).
