Motorolans mentor low income students through Citizen Schools’ expanded learning day programs focused on STEAM (science, technology, education, arts and math) curricula. Mentors provide academic support and exposure to new careers. Along with earning better grades and scores, participating students are 120% more likely to earn a college degree than their peers.
Motorola Mobility Foundation supports LEAP’s effort to revolutionize learning through the creation of an education technology innovation ecosystem. The initiative, aimed at eliminating the skills gap for underprivileged students, will impact an estimated 300,000 kids.
Motorola Mobility Foundation supports student internship placement and other programming at Marwen, an organization that provides visual arts education to underserved Chicago students. Marwen offers free classes and improves college acceptance for students interested in a visual arts career through its college planning career counseling programs.
Partner purpose and impact: Motorola Mobility Foundation is a founding sponsor of 1871, an incubator for Chicago’s premier community of designers, coders and entrepreneurs. Motorola employees lend expertise and support to innovators who are creating thousands of jobs and contributing more than $30 million in revenue to the economy.
Partner purpose and impact: Future Founders inspires low-income Chicago youth to become entrepreneurs. Motorolans work with students in a mentorship capacity, providing assistance with project-based career exposure. Future Founders impacts an estimated 6,000 students per year.
Technology Access Partners
Partner purpose and impact: Serving students from over 50 different districts in the Chicago area, Cove School worked with Motorolans to design and implement a STEAM pilot program to teach engineering principles to children with complex learning disabilities. The curriculum will serve as a model to provide STEAM education enrichment to children of all backgrounds.
World Institute on Disability
Partner purpose and impact: To eliminate barriers to employment, economic security and health care for people with disabilities, WID works both at the policy and program level in 20 nations. Motorola partners with WID to create innovative programs and tools for people of every age.
We boost our employees’ volunteering power by providing grants for their projects, recruiting fellow employees to volunteer, and supporting fundraising efforts for their organizations.
